Lennon is 187. McCarthy and Dunstan were previously listed at 195cm and 185cm so shrunk. McCarthy is effectively only 192cm.

Imagine the NBA or NFL draft camps(combine) if somebody got a basic thing like heights of players wrong. Absolute amateur mistake to get heights wrong. Only in the AFL where we have semi professional umpires would this happen. The AFL won't even see it for what it is which is a lack of respect to the fans who are the ones making the draft and trade month bigger and bigger every year. Even worse when the AFL want an offseason like the NFL and NBA where the fans are obsessed with the off season period.

I don't understand this "pick after your pick" business. It should just be at the end of first round or end of second round or whatever. The fact that Collingwood get a better compensation pick for Thomas than Hawthorn do for Buddy is utterly ridiculous.

Would possibly have Sheed above Acres at this point in time yet through development I could see Acres being the winner of the two, hope we invest a lot of time into Bontempelli and whether we should draft him or not. Hartung seem's to be rated a little high along with McCarthy.

This who i would pick up with our 3 pick ups:

1st pick - Nathan Freeman or Christian Salem or Ben Lennon (if he is a slider) or Luke Dustan or Marcus Bontempelli (could become a pendulbury type, project player but we can afford to do that now with so many young mids already)

2nd Pick - Jay kennedy-harris (hopeful that he will still be around in the 40's but doubtful) or Dwayne wilson or Eli Templeton or Dayle Garlett

3rd Pick - Toby Nankervis (Rate him higher than Darcy Cameron and has good foot skills for ruckman and won the division 2 medal with kade koladjashnij, hope he is still available in the high 40's early 50's at least)

Although will be happy with who ever we pick up.

You got to remember a young ruckman won't play straight away, he will take 3-4 years to develop and by the time he is ready to play Ivan would be 31-32, Stephanson would have well and truly retired as he is already 32 and hampson would be 28-29 so we would have a ready made replacement to come in and take the number 1 ruck role, just at the right time insted of having a terrible rucks for a 2 to 3 period.

Side note: Not everyone's like grundy and he won't be able to sustain that for 22 game next year and I believe Toby Nakervis will be better than Darcy Cameron which is a big call, just needs right development.

Its not really when you think about it. Its structured as band 1,2,3 etc with 1 mid 1rd, 2 end of 1rd, 3 mid 2nd, 4 end of 2nd etc. Plus the fact that compo will be gotten rid soon( it was to placate clubs to let FA in and to mitigate any worries to poor teams) it soon wont matter and that remember we want to equalise the comp so in a way the hawks being a top team deserve less compo than a poor team down the bottom of the ladder. Not a fair compo for player but fairer for the comp as a whole. Or this is the theory anyway.

Yes it is very big call but his athleticism and kicking are really impressive for a big man, traits that could make him a dominating force if developed right and i believe we have the right facilities to do that. It would be a pick in the late 40's early 50's. Although there are few more rucks stocks in next years draft, i believe he will be that good when he fully develops that he is exactly what we need. So why wait another year when we could be using that extra year in developing him.

These guys I see as not part of our long term future and will/might need to be replaced.

Chris Newman: I's love him to stay but he's probably only got one more year in the 22
Shane Edwards: This one's a might. I think he's good enough, but I know others who want his spot taken
Ricky Petterd: terrible kick, hopefully replace him soon
Chris Knights: don't know how good this guy can be yet. another might
A Edwards/McGuane: A Edwards is ok. but probably not a long term future player
Jake King: Love him. but he's getting old
Foley: probably already lost his spot.
Grigg: He's good but I would like another Ellis, had a bad year in comparison to 2012
White: need more speed
Tuck: need some toughness

What we need to draft to the team is...


A half back - Newman's current spot: There are medium defenders like Batchelor and Dea but neither rebound like Newy does. McIntosh seems my Ideal fit but seems raw and It would be good to draft another. Newy can hold this spot for next year

Small forward type- King's spot: McDonough seems the obvious one but drafting another X factor small would be good

Speedy Midfielder- White's spot: we deffinately lost pace and run when white was out of the side this year. Another speedy midfielder is a large priority

Outside midfielder: Griggs spot: wouldn't be surprised if we drafted an outside runner. Grigg is good enough currently


Foley's spot is taken
Tuck's spot will be taken be Arnott

Petterd, Knights, A. Edwards, S. Edwards will probably feel pressure on their spots with guys like Batchelor, McBean, McDonough, etc. coming in
