"Collingwood have announced that 2012 VFL star, Kyle Martin has been upgraded to the senior list in replacement of Jackson Ramsay who was this afternoon placed on the long term injury list."

Interesting timing for this rookie elevation. Makes me think that Pendles is a definite out this week.

If Martin gets a game this week he could make a pretty good midfield downgrade target in a few weeks.

huh?

Right, uhh.

heard nothing about pendles not playing. what u on about gingy

I read on DTT & SCpaige as well as on the BF SC forum and Pies board that Pendles pulled up a bit lame last week (2 possies second half) and only walked around during Wednesday training. Hip/flexor or something like that. Don't think he is 100% but club giving him til the last minute to come good. Watch this space...he still could be a late scratching.

Macrae and Stringer to both debut this week, and Tutt has earned a call-up as well.

Macrae - DEFINITELY worth a look, but give him a round or two to show what he's got. Definitely high SP and JS.
Stringer - don't get sucked in at least until after this round. Still unfit and will be sub.
Tutt - don't trust him but certainly has high SP should he play well. Chance to hold his spot but no certainty.

With Morris almost certainly looking at a suspension, Vlastuin is likely to come in imo.

the commentators were calling for him to come in and assist with some precision disposal from the Tigers back half...

Docherty & Vlastuin will be perfect timing to downgrade 2 maxed out Poort rooks. :thumbsu:

Agreed, although by then the multi-bye madness will start to bite on people's sides and planning....

I'm not even planning for that rubbish - I'll just try to get the best team together as the weeks roll on and hope everything's OK for the bye rounds. Last year proved most plans fell though anyway. A massive benefit of two trades a week during the bye rounds is the ability to roll our teams over as we go. Or do we get three during the bye like last year?

Nope, just the 2. Shouldn't be too much of a problem with only 18 starters. If I cop a doughnut or 2 during the MBR's
it's not the end of the world. Would much rather plan to have the best possible post MBR team I can.

MBRs can be fun anyway, a true rollercoaster - you can field a decent team one week and have barely two Port rookies to rub together the next. And after getting dunked for a few weeks, that first full round is a genuine relief.

I planned quite heavily last year for the MBR's and it all went pear shaped. I've got a 10-7-13 structure at the moment which means that I need to trade some Rnd 13 rookies to players from the other rounds over the next few weeks. Which is fine.. That's about the extent of my planning for this year...

yeah i must admit that i had done extensive planning for the MBR's last year, but when an injury or two hits, a cash cow cops a vest, or a player get suspended, those plans go out the window.

I probably saved myself about 200 points total with my MBR planning, but compromised my initial starting team and upgrade order to do it. Not worth the hassle IMO.

I've stated it elsewhere in more detail, but I missed the boat (big time) on Zorko last year as I didn't want to trade in another player that had the same bye week as the player I was trading out, as it ruined my structure.

A few injuries later my structure was ruined anyway and I had to pay 200K more for Zorko in the end....

I'm surprised there has not been more discussion on the merits of Mayes v Kerridge. Yes, Mayes looks like the better scorer - but Kerridge is 44k cheaper. Adelaide fans are suggesting that Kerridge is safe for at least 4-5 weeks which I think is comparative with Mayes. I certainly think it could be an option for next week, especially if you don't have room for both Mayes and Evans his week.

Thoughts?

I'd rather Mayes & Kerridge over Evans to be honest. I think they both have higher scope for scoring. I realise Evans scored 110 odd last week but he played GWS and had a 60 point last quarter where he kicked 3 goals. I highly doubt he will be able to do that again this season. Whereas mayes has showed good scoring ability so far and Kerridge seems to have solid JS and scored quite well in comparison to his possession tally.

I'm still undecided but so far I am picking up both Mayes and Kerridge and not fussed over missing Evans too much
