The Pies have been great traders and drafters for along time. So good infact we sent them Rendell.
Carlton also wanted White but he nominated that we wanted to go to the pies. The Pies knew Sydney needed him gone big time to allow them to get Buddy in their cap. So the Pies held firm.

Rendell is a trade negotiator now?

Except your posts have ceased being about Trigg. Most of the recent ones are based on your own hypotheticals on interpretations you are guessing at. The latest is that our list is now pissed off.

This is your 1st contribution to this thread.

It's posts like this that people are pulling you up for.

Righto - that's the last one.

Any more talks about what is appropriate or not in this thread - do it somewhere else.
If you see a post you don't want in this thread - report and ignore.

I'm not saying they aren't valid posts - I just want to keep this clearn for those only interested in trade news this week.

Wellingham is very underrated. Sure not pick 1 but hes a good player. Thomas is another top pick that's a pure gun. Dawes isnt as bad as you make out, will be good this year.

Sure they've replenished...but theyve also lost a lot of good players along the way and they have traded well. But essentially theyve had a premiership type list since they won it and have barely fired a shot.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Wellingham.

As for Dawes, he isn't bad. But he also isn't worth a top 20 pick. They somehow got Pick 19 for him when they should have gotten around Pick 29. Robbery.

And Daisy leaving as a free agent. Should leave a dent in the club right? No, they will be getting a top 6 pick plus Jesse White (while throwing in a couple of meaningless later picks), which is far more than what Daisy is even worth in a TRADE. It's farcical.

Oh, and in addition to Pick 6, they also still have Pick 10 this year too. 5 top 20 picks in the last 2 drafts, with guys like Swan, Pendlebury, Cloke, Beams all at the top of their game still. They've already gotten Grundy, Kennedy and Broomhead, and now look set to snare either Aish, Scharenberg, Billings or Bontempelli at pick 6, and someone like Freeman, Matt Crouch, Dom Sheed or Lennon at pick 10. Its absolutely obscene really.

If they drop out of the 8 in 2014 I'll eat my own head. 2013 was a down year (Beams injured for over half the season, Grundy only came on the scene late, Lynch was a failure, Daisy didn't play, Jolly and Hudson weren't up to it etc). Don't read too much into their elimination final loss against Port, they are still right around the mark IMO, and their youth is as good as anyone's.

Hopefully things don't work out for them because nobody wants to see them stay near the top, but the writing is clearly on the wall that they'll be a force moving forward IMO.

Good excuses, shame Jolly Hudson and Daisy wont be there this year either, and Lynch will still be a spud. Theyve done well to get picks, but they'll be worse agian this year. For much of the year they didnt deserve a spot in the top 8.

Geez if Dom Sheed goes at 6-10 I there will be some thoroughly pissed west coast fans I reckon. Would be hilarious if collingwood picked him up

Collingwood are reloading for another 3-5 years of being a contender.

Pretty obvious, and when you look at the last 2 years, it looks like they're going to achieve it.

With their trading for draft picks last year. And breaking up the "rat pack" this year, it certainly does look like a mini re-build.

There are 2 things about this though.....

1) they have stocked up on small running players who can play through the forward line. We should be keeping a close eye to see if we can poach one at some stage.

2) I don't think their game plan stacks up at times. Well, maybe it's game day coaching but this isn't the thread for that.

Who deserved to take the Pies spot in the 8? Other than North Melbourne who shot themselves in the foot about 7 times, all the teams who finished outside the 8 were an absolute disgrace pretty much all season. The Pies beat some bloody good teams, but had about 4 really bad games which tarnished their season somewhat. Still went 14-8. Pretty good effort to go 14-8 in a down year I would've thought.

Jolly and Hudson don't need to be there anymore. Grundy is already one of the best 6 ruckmen in the league. By the end of 2014 he'll probably overtake Cox (too old), Minson (flash in the pan), and Goldstein (good but not great) to be the 2nd best in the league behind Naitanui (when fully fit).

You're right, they still won't have Daisy. but they'll have 2 top 10 draft picks, a fully fit Dayne Beams and a more experienced Ben Kennedy instead. You'd take that.

Taken from the Herald Sun:

ADELAIDE
THE Crows secured the early draft pick they desperately wanted when Melbourne parted with pick 23 for Adelaide club champion Bernie Vince. Brenton Sanderson still holds interest in Brisbane Lion Jared Polec, although the only realistic chance to snare him is if the Lions and Power can't strike a deal, which seems unlikely. That would allow Adelaide to swoop in the pre-season draft. Beefed up their forward line with James Podsiadly and Eddie Betts, securing both for nix. The Crows could also lure GWS midfielder Shaun Edwards this week.

DRAFT PICKS: 23, 36, 64

They won 14 games and had double ups against Sydney & Hawthorn.

No one can accuse of them not deserving their place in September.

Lol. You should go read my posts when I first joined. Before Tippettgate, I was a happy supporter. But enough is enough. Its supporters like you, Kristof and the Blue Rinse set that give non performance comfort. Its supporters like you who claim "real supporters give unwavering support in good and in bad" who helped turn Melbourne into a basket case. You would be really suited to religion. Faith that cant be questioned.
I have been a crows supporter since inception in 1991. I ahve been a season ticket holder for 15 years. I have put thousands and thousands into my club. I have spent thousands driving and flying across Australia to watch thw play.
The fact that I think our Admin needs to be changed and needs to be called out for its wrongs means I am a true aupporter. I want sucess. I want flags. I want our club to have the best playing list, the biggest membership, the mist money. For you to come on here and accuse me of not been a supporter and some kind of PAP plant I guess is unacceptable. The Mods should look at your post in a dim view.
Pathetic.

Fair enough. I take back my criticism of you. I was playing the man instead of the ball.

I'll keep my criticism to things you say that I disagree with. It's not everything - I would have also sacked Trigg immediately. But I will call you on posts that I feel are overwhelmingly pessimistic and negative.

You're right nobody deserved to make it ahead of them, which is why they made it even after a below par season.
My point being is you look at their forward and back line and has that improved in the last 2 years?
I dont think it has, and whilst theyve stocked up with mids and a gun young ruckman they have absolutely no KPF or KPB depth. Cloke goes down who are they left with?

No one can accuse of them not deserving their place in September.

They also lost to the Gold Coast, took 3/4 to dispose of GWS and got smashed by all the top sides multiple times. They then lost an elimination final at home against a very finals-inexperienced team.

They were the typical 7th-8th team, just making up the numbers.

I wonder if Collingwood will have a crack at pick 2 now?

Shaw + 6 -> 2

GWS have always wanted to split the shaw/adams trade into two separate transactions.

They were the typical 7th-8th team, just making up the numbers.

They had the 3rd best win/loss record against the top 8 sides in the 8.

Typical 7/8 teams don't beat Sydney on their own patch & Geelong during their seasons like they did.

You seem to forget they used debuted 8 players last year. Only GWS had more.

The likes of Geelong & Coll will always rebuild on the run inside the 8 because they invest the most in recruitment and player development of all the clubs.

If Cloke goes down its going to be a Paine-ful season for the pies ;)

1) Shaw +6 -> 2

2) 2 -> Adams

???

No I mean two completely separate transactions. For example (have put no thought into values here):

Shaw + 6 -> 2

Adams in a 3 way player trade with Collingwood or something like 10 -> Adams + 21

Or just one super trade:

Shaw + 6 + 10 -> Adams + 2 + 21

No, I was being a dick, because GWS have been making out like bandits with picks that it wouldn't surprise me if they pulled off Shaw + 6 -> Adams and had pick 1, 2 and 6 to play with.

Fisher has confirmed he will not go to GWS.

I really think we will see Luke Thompson traded to GWS for Edwards

Our picks would be worth 0 to them (they wont go the low in the draft) and if they lose Bruce then they will definitely want a ready made tall defender to come in to their squad.
