Martin only signed a 1 year extension, so it's not like he's off the table.

Regardless of that through I think he was backup to the Betts deal, not sure he'd replace polec at all.

i thought he signed with collingwood

I assume they upgraded him? You would think we would have put a 2-3 year deal infront of him so find that a bit surprising.

1) Shaw +6 -> 2

2) 2 -> Adams

???

I guess he was suggesting Shaw, 6 & 10 for Adams and 2. But considering GWS just traded Tyson and 9 to GET pick 2, it seems unlikely they'd trade back down again.

Based on this mornings events we should be able to get pick 11 out of West Coast for him.

How are people bagging the WC trade? It was actually very smart by them. They are targeting the boy from WA, Dom Sheed very heavily. Only thing is he's probably not worth pick 6 and there is an extremely high chance he will still be there at 11.

They are also targeting Yeo, who Brisbane want a 2nd rounder for. So instead of having pick 6 and no second rounder, they downgraded their pick to 11 and in the process gaining an extra second rounder. Therefore they will most likely still get Sheed, Yeo and still have a 2nd rounder to use.

Like I said its a good move for them. It's a very similar trading strategy that teams use in the NFL, trading to up or downgrade their picks based on where the player they want will go in the draft.

not yet still waiting

Faith is there any merit to my Thompson for Edwards suggestion? Have you had any word on if Thompson may have been shopped around or attracted any interest?

I do seem to remember his manager or us indicating he was going to look at what options were around but not heard anything since.

Except your posts have ceased being about Trigg. Most of the recent ones are based on your own hypotheticals on interpretations you are guessing at. The latest is that our list is now pissed off.

This is your 1st contribution to this thread.

It's posts like this that people are pulling you up for.
One of our biggest flaws has been our trading. Common knowedge. Do you somehow think we are good traders? Collingwood are what you call good traders. Last year was terrible. I mean a second rounder out the door for Angus Graham. But no doubt Angus is underrated.
Its an area our club needs to improve in. We have been disappointing for along time. For me to bring this up in a trade thread is not out of place.
But ill take your view.
We rock at trades. Angus is a gun. Nobles the best at his job.
We are in a premiership window and Jpod is going to be the Coleman medallist next year.
Am I doing it right?

They also lost to the Gold Coast, took 3/4 to dispose of GWS and got smashed by all the top sides multiple times. They then lost an elimination final at home against a very finals-inexperienced team.

They were the typical 7th-8th team, just making up the numbers.
We are a much better team than The Pies. You just watch us finish higher. Bunch of spuds they are.
Get around Triggy 2014.

I've been pretty happy with our intake over the last 6 years

2007 - Dangerfield, Otten, Walker
2008 - Davis*, Sloane, Henderson
2009 - Talia, Gunston*, Wright, Riley
2010 - Jacobs, Smith, Lyons
2011 - Brown, Lynch, Crouch, Grigg, CEY, Laird
2012 - Atkins

* ended badly but good pickup regardless.

Clearly last year was pretty lean compared to the others, but to quote 12 year old me 'uh duuuuuuuurrrrrr', of course it was. Did people expect our punishment for cheating to be no punishment? We're not Melbourne!

He'd be good at StKilda

Dont confuse our drafting with our trading. Our drafting has been a highlight for us. But we then sacked Matt Rendell and hes at Collingwood.
But its ok, a number of people have informed us here that Hamish was actually the brains behind Rendell, so we have lost nothing.

If our drafting is great, why do we need to trade so much? Why not back our highlight?

I think we are on the Geelong train for trading (they haven't done a lot - except with Ablett compo's, which is expected)

They go together. In 2007 Judd went for #3, #20 and Josh Kennedy, if we could have got him for our #10 people would have called that a massive win....that #10 was Danger.

Seriously you're starting to piss everyone off man. Go cry to your mother.

You're presenting two polar opposite views, one which you represent and one which nobody else represents. Im not quite sure what you're trying to do.
Nobody on this board is that rosey cheeked about the whole Tippetgate thing. You just need to cop it and move on.

How good COULD that be.
Could honestly have 5 x 200 gamers in that lot.

Yeah, looking over the 5 years 2007-2011 IMO we picked up 5 genuine AA grade stars:
Dangerfield
Walker
Sloane
Talia
Crouch

Add to that the others such as Davis, Gunston, Smith, Brown, Grigg, CEY, Laird and it was a really great period. Obviously it will dip during the sanction years, but if we pick up afterwards, that's a good strike rate.

I'll take 1 AA star per year thanks!

You are absolutely spot on with that post.

Potentially that little era could really set us up for the next 5-10 years.

Yes I believe that.

I belive it is either worth us pushing them to a higher pick or it isn't. And we shoudl act accordingly.

I don't believe we should wait for Port Power to get the first showdown at AO and THEN decide we need to take such an action. What a bunch of grade 9 High School girls move that is.

I agree with you and hope for some competitive advantage within our small but challenging market place they were going to follow this strategy all along, well before any Adelaide Oval decision came out.

I also hope they look at Port as one of 17 other clubs, and tread every other club accordingly.
