Lombardi gone from Cleveland and Banner gone in 2 months. Ray Farmer the new GM. What a joke of an organisation.
wtf, it made sense for lombardi to try and get a coach he likes, to fire him i feel is a step backwards, because this gm needs to put HIS guy in, pencil in another 12months, whichever qb they take in the draft i feel sorry for that man, cause he will be a bust, peyton manning could go there and be a bust in that situation

There are a dozen good links/articles on PFT, but this little snippet is interesting....

So, over the last 18 months, Haslam has made four key hires in his two primary businesses. And he has fired all four of them. Does that say more about the men who were hired, or about the man who hired them?

This too...

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, new Browns General Manager Ray Farmer wasn’t involved in the interviews that resulted in the hiring of new coach Mike Pettine.

In the Browns statement announcing the ouster of CEO Joe Banner and G.M. Mike Lombardi, owner Jimmy Haslam said of Farmer: “He embraces his partnership with Mike Pettine, which is critical in helping build the right team.”

Of course, embracing someone you’re not personally invested in changes the working dynamic considerably.

The easy to reach perception of the mess that is Cleveland is that Banner and Lombardi failed to deliver the guys they thought they could get. From Chip Kelly playing them last offseason, to this year’s inability to land Josh McDaniels (or even get Adam Gase to interview), it’s obvious Banner and Lombardi’s inability to close was a factor in their unemployment.

Now we’ll have to wait and see how warmly Farmer “embraces” Pettine, or whether he’s just keep his hands close enough to his back to shove him out the door in a season or so.

Right so it's Banner and Lombardi's fault that they couldn't "close" when Cleveland are a joke organisation who no one wanted to go there?

And now they cut bait again before any GM/Coach in the league could have done anything to turn that organisation around. The owner doesn't realise he's just solidifying Cleveland's reputation as a black hole. Again.

In a way I kinda think haslam is doing the right thing. Lombardi has always sucked. Silver lining IMO. Pettine a nice hire and obviously haslam doesn't want to waste time. Wants to improve the org. Really he should start with himself re pilot j scandal

That's what you said about Jim Zorn.
