Priority is Reid, but I wouldn't mind securing the services of a few of those opposition players with some of that cash we have. Mundy is a Victorian isn't he? He would slot in nicely. Shannon Hurn would certainly look good in our back 6.

I would re write the Reid contract now.
Offer a new 3 or 4 year contract replacing the existing 2014 contract.
Front end in 2014, gobbling up our spare cap space for 2014 & free up even more cap space for 2015.
Swan & Harry, wait until we see what happens next year, then make a call mid year or at seasons end.

I hope Reid doesn't delay contract talks until the end of the season like so many others. He isn't a huge name player, but I'm guessing a few clubs would like to sign him.

2nd That. Hope he does it ASAP

Diagree Reid is a big name player.

Only Pendles, Cloke and Swan are more important to us and he is also a 24 AA CHb that has shown he can go forward and kick goals.

Yeah surprised we haven't heard more about this yet now Shaw & Daisy are gone. Hopefully it comes out sometime this week.

Agree with others lock Reid away now. I'm also on the Shannon Hurn FA bandwagon for next year. Think he is just the sort of player we need. Gee Mundy would look good in black and white too. With a big cheque book I can see next off season being an interesting one for us too.

Guys, can i ask a question. I remember that Nathan Brown is committed to us but the club yet to announce the terms of the contract. As we have huge space of salary cap this year. Can we re-sign Bronwy as a certain amount like 1.2 million(just a number) for 4 years and we pay him 600K next year and 200k for next 3 years?

I think we'll attempt to re-sign all those boys early in the season, I don't see Swan as being a problem, he's never ridden us on the negotiating table before and he's recently said he's a Pie for life, Reid seems pretty loyal as well.

Yes, that's front ending a contract and it happens quite a bit. Also a times like this a club can pay out more on players contracts and then next year go after a FA.

Swan already said he will never leave the club & will be a pie for life. (Copeland speech)
Agree with signing Reid. Not sure where Harry stands right now to be honest.

O'Brien was shopped around this trade period however no one was interested.

He'd wanna tread very carefully in 2014 if he doesn't again want to end up on the trade table

Beams is the other one we need to lock into a long term contract. Not a FA, but out of contract.

He's a free agent. So he won't end up on the trade table. He would just leave.

My understanding was that Reid was one of the eight ready to re-sign. I hope that's right.

Swan I can't see leaving.

O'Brien is worth keeping as compensation will probably have ended for FA by next year. Not worth losing sleep over however.

Definitely want us to be a net receiver in the FA period next year. One of a top end running HB (Walker, Gibbs, Hurn) and bring in young talls through the draft. Keep building the strength of the list around to contend strongly again toward the end of Cloke's career (which means Beams / Pendles / Sidebottom / Reid / Brown all still in reasonable shape as well, along with the maturation of the likes of Grundy, Fasolo, Keeffe, Thomas, #6, #10, etc).

So this is the reason why we didn't announce Browny's contract, just saying he is re-signed

Beams signed a three year deal at the end of last year

Cheers, pendles. Read an article about a cashed up Hawthorn entering the market next year. Beams was nominated as a likely target. Glad to hear he is locked in for another couple of years.
