Pick 61 for a known quantity is much better than just about any speculative pick that was likely to have been available. Assuming we would've used the pick at all.

I'm sure the club are well pleased.

Emma Quayle was way off the mark suggesting that Geelong might bid on Cordy with their first rounder. They didn't bid on him at all.

Thank's mate , have you seen him play live ? and is he way better than what the highlights package indicate ?
Anyone else out there with more to add ?

Yep seen him live quite a few times. His highlight package doesn't do him any justice, like Bontempelli last year. It doesn't show off enough of his physicality and attack at the contest.

He was much better last year to add, has had injury concerns all year this year. I think he had an operation for his finger and some leg complaints. Hasn't played much this year and I don't think he had a pre season this year either (could be wrong).

Yeah....I think you just take the best player....would not be unhappy with Petracca. But i'm uncomfortable with how we get pick 2 or 3.
I guess the way to get around it is, you trade for Melbournes pick 2 not the pick 3. Or you deal that they don't touch mccartin or wright if only one available.

They probably couldn't bid round 2 and 3 as they will need for the Mitch Clark deal. Probably thought he was a stretch in the 1st round. Which based on the bids seems correct

Agree: which means Emma was wrong.

What a great result getting Zaine cordy in our 4th round. Pick 61 is a great steal.
I was just hoping we got him for a 3rd round. Was watching it live hoping it slipped to our 3rd. But our 4th? fantastic news!
means we got pick 5, 25, 26, 43 or so. Depending on what happens with frawley compo pick.
Not to mention picks we get for Jones and Tutt.. We could trade 2 2nd round picks for reid and membry now.

The top end talent isn't as good, but I think the draft has more depth then previous years.
I think it falls off pretty quickly but there are a lot of players on a reasonably even level after 40ish. Decent amount of list managers and such have described it as having average depth so a bid in the 70s was pretty surprising to me. Expect about 60 live picks.

Jack Steele went with GWS's second! Good that others rate him and have forced the giant's hands. Who bid for him?
Here's a list of all the bids and pick ups:

"Cal T. moderator30 minutes ago

So, who made the bids?

Melbourne bid pick two on Isaac Heeney, to which Sydney matched with pick 17.
Western Bulldogs bid pick five on Darcy Moore, to which Collingwood matched with pick 8.
North bid pick 15 on Jack Steele, to which GWS matched with pick 23.
Adelaide bid pick 29 on Billy Stretch, to which Melbourne matched with pick 39.
Richmond bid pick 31 on Liam Dawson, to which Brisbane matched with pick 41.
Fremantle bid pick 32 on Jack Hiscox, to which Sydney matched with pick 36.
North Melbourne bid pick 34 on Harris Andrews, to which Brisbane matched with pick 60.
Fremantle bid pick 51 for Zaine Cordy, to which the Western Bulldogs matched with pick 61.
Geelong bid pick 70 on Abe Davis, to which the Swans matched with pick 73.

The remaining three players who didn't receive a bid - Josh Clayton (Brisbane), Alec Waterman (West Coast) and Jeremy Finlayson (GWS) - will join those clubs with their last selection.

*Please note these are the correct draft selections before free agency compensation picks are added to the draft, such as the Bulldogs' pick 26 for Shaun Higgins. All of the picks will be moved down a position once that trade becomes active, as of now."

picks 5, 25, 26, 42 and 61 now used on a tall KPD.
Everything going as best as it can possibly go right now - Exciting!

So now we know where Cordy is at we could theoretically have picks 5/6, 26, 27, 43, 44, Zaine, tutt pick, and Jong upgrade hmmm what to do with that.
I think we'd get more for Jones then Tutt
might not even use the Tutt pick...except as an upgrade

I agree. With 26 for Higgins and 61 for Zaine, our off season has started well pretty well.

Think we'll go for an extra rookie rather than use the Tutt pick.

I wonder how many fresh faces will be on the list from just the national draft

hope we don't take many mature age players just to balance the age profile of the list

will have to look at some mock drafts to see who everyone thinks is going where (range not clubs)

Stoked to get Zaine at 61, I'd have been happy to spend our second on him. What a bargain.
