We can trade him for pick 1 now and get him back in 3 years time when he's FA though, why wouldn't we?? We need more elite talent to balance the age profile of our list something something queen elizabeth

You know when you dumb it down to two sentences i understand it and want to do it. Magic needs to stop writing theses for us plebs not on his plane of thinking

Yeah he would come running back wouldn't he

no deal need pick 11, how about lids and Vickery

How about we keep our most important player..... FFS as soon as it gets to this time of year we hear the same old crap.... Lids is 27, he's in his prime.... he dominated the last 5 weeks of the season, collecting more Brownlow votes than anyone in the comp (I haven't actually confirmed this).... Petracca has played 0 games, achieved 0 and will not have the impact Lids currently has for at least 4-5 years (at best). This would make our side weaker, not stronger....

Vickery I'm not so fussed about....

noone we are willing to trade would command anywhere near a first round pick. until we have depth and a Conca/Lennon/any other young gun is playing reserves because he cannot break into out strong side, or Vick/Griff or McBean request to be traded because the other 2 are keeping them out of the side, we dont have much to offer. 2nd round is the best, absoulte best, at the most for our tradable players.

first pick must, absolutely must, be used on another 187-190cm midfielder, and not a midfielder that will start at half back, a midfielder who plays mid/wing and can kick goals.

This might be wrong or correct but here it goes and its just the way i see where the tigers are at atm

Backline - I believe is good enough with our talls in Astbury,Rance,Grimes and Morris is a good small (i know alot have bagged him for his 2014 season) but i think i will excuse him due to the injury he has had to play with all year.
We also have Houli, McDonough who are i believe good distributors from the HB line as well as Kamdyn McIntosh who i rate highly and has been unfortunate with injuries.

Foward line - Again i seriously believe we have enough talent and quality with our talls in Jack, Ben,Liam & Tyrone but our medium/smalls are questionable
But what i would like to see is to have Mids that rotate through our foward line rather than a dedicated small fowards which are extremely on & Off unless you have a top liner like Betts.Motlop,Milne type

What i would like to see - Delidio,Martin,Cotchin,Edwards,Lennon spend 30-35% time in the foward line But in order to do this we need to build up our midfield with another 2-3 "Quality midfielders" Currently we have
Ellis - Whilst had a great year needs to work on his inside game and have the ability to spend 30-35% of his time on ground playing inside

Conca - Really believe he has stalled big time and is getting by on his draft selection, Coaches really need to challenge Reece and put it to him that what he has delivered thus far is nowhere near whats expected , Coaches need to be hard and lay down the law with Reece

Miles- Gun of a 1st year with us and really is a breath of fresh air to see a kid come in with so much determination (Conca can learn alot)

Vlastuin - Good player and we all want him to be great but really needs to take his game to the next level next year and continue to improve, He is extremely important to our midfield and has to be another dominant inside mid that can hold his own whilst Cotchin,Martin,Miles are not in there
I expect him to step upto and become that player

Whilst we have Foley,Arnot,Thomas,Petterd,Grigg,Knights - I really dont expect any improvment from these players and they need to be replaced in the next 2 years for us to actually become a top 4 team

What i want from Francis Jackson and his recruiting team in this draft

Mids,Mids,Mids ............................... And more MIDS

We should Take 4 genuine Inside mids & 3 Outside mids with our picks & 1 Developing Ruckman thats under 23 and been playing at a high level at either Sanfl,Wafl,Vfl. (brown from north perfect example)

Do Not trade for other teams crap and hope that we can re train them - Sh!t is Sh!t and they are on the scrap heap for a reason

Free Agency - Dangerfield (go all out for) Jones (go all out for) Sometimes you need to pay dollars to get these players across
for the people saying we will lose our guns blah blah blah i think players know that to win a flag you need these guns at your club and these players wont want to stay if we are not sucessfull anyway so its a double edged sword

Do people realize that no.1 picks can flop? There is no guarantee that they will turn into a super gun (history shows no.1 picks actually have done quite poor). So giving up a proven gun and pick 11 is stupid.

History?

Riewoldt - Gun
Hodge - Gun
Goddard - Gun
Cooney - Brownlow medalist cut down by injury
Deledio - Gun
Murphy - Gun
Gibbs - Gun
Kruezer - Injuries haven't helped but alright
Watts - Dud (But Melbourne)
Scully - Below average (But Melbourne)
Swallow - Gun
Patton - 2 Knees but looked like being a gun
Whitfield - Looks a gun in the making
Boyd - Long way to go.

Might not always be the best player but as long as you don't have Melbourne developing you'll likely get a very very good player

That being said wouldn't be swapping into the first pick for the cost no matter how much I want Petracca.

Yeah but how many of those have been the best out of their draft class? I think that was more the point he was making rather than them spudding it up.

He said flop and quite poor.

Yes they are not usually the best player in their draft but they are usually in the top 6-10. Makes it a hell of a lot easier to get one right at one... only Melbourne can stuff that up

Would hardly call Swallow a gun. That gives you 0 out of the last 7 years

Sometimes scraps can be made into gold, look at Schulz. Dimma said "you're out mate", so Port made him into one of the best key forwards in the game.
Houli has been a great pickup let's be honest. I'd love an upgrade if we could but in a better side he'd be just as highly spoken of as a Malceski type. The rest are questionable yeah.. but on our day (and in the last 2 seasons we have had 27 of those and could-shoulda been a few more), Grigg has earned himself plenty of praise and deservedly so.

But I agree with mids and more mids, definitely! And a dangerous small forward if we can.
Get Jack back to his match winning best surrounded by the talent of Cotch, Lids, Martin and Lennon, and potentially other targets in both Griff and Ty.
The defence should be great as it is with Astbury coming back.
Mids. Fast, fit, strong mids.
My friend watched us just get over the line against GWS this year at the MCG when I missed most of it cause of work.
He is an Essendon supporter but a very good guy and a very honest backer of the Tigers, we often skype together whilst watching Richmond games as I still live overseas. So I took his word pretty seriously when he told me "your midfield just doesn't defend, they don't run both ways".

So, midfield.

Would hardly call Swallow a gun. That gives you 0 out of the last 7 years

You need to watch Swallow play more. Is a star. And saying 0 for Whitfield a guy averaging 20 touches.

There is 1 dud in that list Watts and 1 average player in Scully.
