Sort of changes the dynamics.. Everyone was thinking carlton and brisbane would chase key position players!
Now with the pies and Gws having 2 top 10 picks Laverde might be gone by 8

I reckon its bullshit but there cap is still so tight even after losing Mal that they can't even afford to upgrade Biggs from the rookie list. Could have merit I guess.

They need to manage their cap very carefully over the next few years. They don't want to lose any of their young guns like Hannebery.

Swans knew the cost of living allowance was coming to an end, cant cry poor over that.The Franklin contract length, deal, is just stupid off the planet stuff, he will be a gun for another 2 or 3 years but after that he will be past his use by date with some 5 years of contract to go.I mean he is already battling knee soreness issues.As for the big bucks paid for Tippett, well more stupidity.... guy is so over-rated its not funny.
Swans have known these Afl rules all along and have done deals like this in an attempt to keep their window open, but its going to go to a fair playing ground and they will be battling to make the finals in say 2017.
