I drafted strong to start, traded like a madman to "prove a point" and then scuttled the ship to begin a slow climb to (hopefully) a flag.

Its been a crazy few years but I wouldnt change a thing*

:)

*Except for just about every trade i made in the first 2 years. :p

I had what I thought was a well thought out plan, the only issue was didn't make any sense!

I was so bad with my gun-slinging trading, Rockford had to do an intervention! In hindsight though, that was the time my marriage was falling apart, so it must have been a subconscious form of escapism!

Like the idea of combining the free kicks into 1 stat. I would vote for SPOILS as the replacement though.

I feel like it would deepen the pool of players more than any of the others.

Posted in the other tread but can keep it here......

I would be more than happy to take a vote and introduce in 2016 - we had a pretty robust discussion a couple seasons ago regarding Frees for and Frees against. I personally don't think they should be worth the same as other categories (or not there at all) because they are so random and can be affected by one or two out of the blue performances by a player, which other categories are less prone to due to the large amount of units for the whole team. I also don't think they really indicate the value of a player in real life football while all other stats do.

Obviously changing stats is a big change in the mechanics of the game, which we have all been working with and building teams for many seasons now so it would need to be accepted by all and given time to come in but I think it would be a nice evolution.

Possible stats would be
- Rebound 50s
- Spoils
- Effective Disposals
- Ineffective Disposals
- Disposal efficiency % (category leagues)
- Contested Possessions
- Clearance

I kind of like something like spoils or clearances as they give some value to guys who might not have it in our league. I also like L_W_P idea of using 'free kick differential' as a way of phasing out FF and FA without losing it completely.

Hehe.. you know we've got a problem when we're identifying each other's mental states by our level of activity on here and the trades we're making on UF ;)

Deft Touch Receives:
Gary Ablett
Nick Dal Santo
Pick 21
Pick 49

Jordie_tackles receives
:
Jake Stringer
Taylor Adams
Tom Cutler
Pick 19
Pick 53

I give up a forward with one of the highest potential in the league in Stringer, a quality young midfielder (possibly forward as well if you go by Supercoach positions) in Adams who should score much more consistently with Ball retiring and Swan declining and a young rebounding defender who showed a lot of ability in the games he played in his debut year.

Well done Unknown Caller, you have certainly propelled yourself into a great position for 2015, firstly with your trade with Tutty, and now this! wow wee this competition is heating up at the top!

And well done also to you Jordie_tackles , I think Cutler is an astute part of the package. Adams and Stringer have a bit of work to do, but both are very highly rated and in for a big season next year with off-season changes and their respective clubs.

Confirmed, wil elaborate later on, cheers Unknown caller an others.

Ok obviously inherited a very strong team in the "Maroons". This being the case i saw them as a very limited side long term after Ablett, NDS, Hale, Harvey, Boyd ect retire. So my aim is to move the age of my list back so that i can have a sustained run at finals, and more so winning especially this year or next would feel like it wasnt my doing.

So the trade, i had a few offers for Ablett, and really they were all very good. In the end Unknown Caller came in late and put what i think is a great trade on the table.

The top piece in Stringer is unknown to a degree and definitely doesnt have the runs on the board that others do, but he laos has the highest ceiling and value being forward eligible imo. Combine that with Adams who is a 20 touch player atm and will benefit this year from no Ball and no Beams in Collingwoods side, then no Swan after that i see him playing as a starter either this year or next. Finally Cutler was predicted to go anywhere after 20 least year and ended up in the 30's, people down at Brisbane rate him, and think he is smart and a good decision maker so that could turn out well and give me another option. Plus a small changing of picks could give me more scope come draft day.

Cheers, now moving forward with other players, Kennedy, Westhoff, Pendlebury ect are all on the table

Fantastic trade on both sides. UC is gearing up for that flag tilt!

I will update everything tomorrow including my delistings ;)

Here are some of the starting 5 midfield's we now have to face after some off-season trades..

Unknown Caller : Ablett, Selwood, Rockcliff, Mitchell, Barlow (Dal Santo & Gibson Utility options)

Drew23 : Watson, Johnson, Priddis, Murphy, Mundy (Gibbs, Greenwood, Rosa, Montagna & Coniglio Utility options!?>!!?)

richcogs , I think it is fair to say that the Gauntlet has been thrown!

Raiders receives:
Luke McDonald

Drew23 receives:
Pick 1

Confirmed. Makes sense IMO. Pick 1 I don't imagine is staying in Drew's possession but me adding a (hopefully) premium back in the mould of Hodge anchors my back line for the future. If he ends up a straight mid in the future then I'm hopeful he'll post comparable numbers to the mids likely to go top 4 in this draft anyway.. all without the risk attached (though realistically there probably isn't that much risk attached to the top 3 prospects in this draft).

Just to be clear. Any pending trade offers I had out there for Ellis or other players are off the table too. Have just read that Ellis is a 50/50 chance (leaked from UF) to actually be a B next season. Might end up wishing I had traded for Pendles and Gaz now ;)
