With our current list who do you think will be our starting 22 ( or 21 ) for round one 2014?

This is what i came up with:

HF: Andrejs Everitt Heath Grundy Nick Malceski
C: Josh Kennedy Gary Rohan Jarrad McVeigh
HF: Daniel Hannerbery Sam Reid Ben McGlynn
F: Trent Dennis-Lane Jesse White Lewis Johnston
FOL: Shane Mumford Luke Parker Kieran Jack
I/C: Matthew Spangher Jed Lamb Craig Bird Lewis Jetta

Re: 2014 team sound one

By 2014 I was hoping for our team to be Premiership favourites... Not that.

As well as that, you have a few guys playing out of position just to get them in the team. By 2014 I doubt some of them players will be even playing football to be honest.

Re: 2014 team sound one

So our current list, just three years on? Ugh....

You forget in the time between now and 2014 that we have Tom Mitchell coming our way, as well as a number of the Academy Kids starting to come through (at least two)

B: Heath - Grundy - Smith

I think this a pretty nice set-up. Heath seems to me to have enough height/strength to play as a third tall, and can even push up and rebound if the need arises. Grundy can shank a kick a game, but he's our best bet against the 'Gorilla' forwards. Smith is simply our best small defender.

HB: (Brandon Ellis) - Johnson - Malceski

Ellis is a potential draft pick for this year that I could see becoming a very nice small defender. Can even push into the midfield if need be. AJ we all know about, and now steps into the CHB position. Malceski the veteran presence down back to cool some heads and make the decisions. Young scholarship player Jack Lynch could also take Ellis' position if we don't get Ellis

C: Hanneberry - Mitchell - McVeigh

Hanners we all know about - not fast, but a tough and able midfielder. Mitchell will be ready to go as an inside player from day 1, and will be an absolute fixture there. McVeigh as marshall of the midfield and captain also makes this an easy pick.

HF: Parker - Reid - Rohan

Parker to play ROK high-flanker role. Reid to do what Reid does best - take amazing marks and crash packs like a freight train. Rohan to be our pressure forward, while at the same time pushing forward into the midfield or even back if the need presents itself.

FF: Lamb - White - K. Murphy

Whites position would have to be the most tenative in this team. Lamb and Murphy give an extra couple of fleet footed pockets that can mark and kick through the sticks - they can also play in the midfield if need be.

RR: Mumford - Kennedy - Jack

No surprises here. All of them will be in their prime by this stage and used to working with Mitchell to clear the ball 9/10.

BENCH: McGlynn - (Lloyd Perris) - Bird - (Alex Jalloh)

McGlynn and Bird join the two academy players on the bench. Perris profiles as a rover of sorts, who by this stage I'm assuming could push into a bit of an outside game. Jalloh look the goods to me (22nd best u/16 in the country) and should be a lightning fast winger.

Re: 2014 team sound one

You guys forget that in 2014 Kirk will be coaching us, and will have convinced David Swallow, Zac Smith and Brendan Matera to come from the Suns, and we'll have traded in an out-of-favour Travis Cloke.

Fair dinkum.

As i said, which was clearly not picked up by others, with our CURRENT LIST. Therefore this being a hypothetical.

Why didn't we draft anyone in 2011-12-13. FV<king outrageous. I blame Mark The Arbib.

And how is Jetta still getting a game.

His double-figure bags game after game became so regular I kinda tuned out there for a while.

He was so brilliant at crashing the packs, can't count the amount of times blokes had to be stretchered off after Jetta plowed through them. Absolute gun.

A shame those nasty rumours about off-season steroid abuse never died down. Opposition supporters never could accept that Jetta could double in height and width in a single three month burst.
