Certainly an... interesting takeaway from those figures: that Melbourne, Carlton, St Kilda is better company than West Coast, Fremantle, Hawthorn, Norf.

Let's face it, anyone is better company that WC, Hawthorn and Norf.

I don't think so. There are too many teams with free shots at the Academy picks to bother.

Melbourne will be a wrecking ball and we know it and have planned accordingly - for better or worse.

I thought with all our retirements that we would have a fair bit of cap room......apparently not, if that was our key objective and not points....

Maybe they are trying to max payments to buddy and hanners this year to provide relief for parkers $$$$

We would have if we were not trying to remove $1.1m of payments out of our salary cap in a two year period.

People need to understand the trading ban has had little to no effect on us, it's the re-structuring of our payment structures to fit under the normal cap that has seen us having to make changes like Bird to fit extended deals for Parker in and remain under the new cap.

Very possible, maybe we have another option going now and will turn back to St Kilda and Essendon if that does not come off.

This definitely puts the Bird deal in a better light. They must have been in discussion with WC about a swap of picks with Jetta and Sinclair, but didn't have quite the right picks to offer. Saints deal goes through, we come back with this, everyone is happy.

West coast now have picks 31 36 and 37, if we traded pick 23 for 36 and 37 it would be about a 180 point upgrade. Would west coast consider this? And under rules is this possible?

Bird was about cap space and it looks like Essendon were the only takers to pay his salary thats why we had a loss in that deal we exchanged points for TPP.

Makes sense though, you can't swap picks for more points until you know what there is to swap. Easier to do these swaps at the end of the trade period rather than the beginning, our list management isn't THAT bad

Yep, now have enough points to match a bid at Pick 2 for Mills as well. 251 points short of being able to match a bid this year in full at Pick 1
