"Why don't we have the owners play half the games?" Roberts said, speaking in her Harlem office to ESPN The Magazine. "There would be no money if not for the players."

"Let's call it what it is. There. Would. Be. No. Money," she added, pausing for emphasis. "Thirty more owners can come in, and nothing will change. These guys [the players] go? The game will change. So let's stop pretending."

:(

Players have guaranteed contracts; owners take the risks.

Seeing as how much the value of NBA teams has risen over the last few years, it's hard to buy owners crying poor anymore.
Agree with this, The owners bent over the Players

However massive TV revenue and i think the players should push for 50/50, Then you have her throwing in lines about no salary cap ect.

Sadly they do.

You only have to look at the idiotic Thunder owner who dumped Harden to avoid the luxury tax despite the Thunder most likely being one of the most valuable teams in the league.

To realise this they have to sell the team, though. It doesn't make the team more profitable season to season. It will interesting to see what the Hawks sale yields but I'd be surprised if was the premium the Bucks and Clippers yielded.

A CBA that gives the players a greater share of BRI will likely reduce the value of franchises. If you consider nine of the thirty teams make a net loss on basketball related income last season, Michelle Roberts may end up reducing the size of the players association by killing off a few teams.

True. When you think about it, most of the time these owners got to where they are today by running efficient, profitable organisations. Sports might be a little different, but they're going to make sure they're not missing out on any potential earnings.

Was listening to Roberts the other day, and she doesn't like having a cap, ie limiting the earning potential of players.
Would be a tough gig trying to keep both sides as happy as possible.
