Stop with the points valuations.

Absolutely irreverent except for FS and academy.

Geez some people hard to please

Look who we picked and look on the bright side.
When does preseason games start.

Can't wait
Unless of course you are trying to make some sense of the rational behind trading picks 5 & 24 for Pick 14 and a specific player in which case it makes absolute sense because unless something weird is going on, the difference between the two indicates the relative value of the player in question involved in the trade.

I will be very pleased when this deal is done.

Moderators may close this thread for a short while after the Carlisle trade is confirmed

Am I being too hopeful that it is..

Essendope - LOSE Carlisle, 23 & 25. GAIN Bird, 5
Sydney - LOSE Bird & 14. GAIN 23 & 25
Saints - LOSE 5. GAIN Carlisle & 14.

Please tell me it's this!
That'd make me a loooot happier than the currently presumed deal

So it's looking like

St Kilda Gain: Carlisle and 14
Out: 5 and 24

Sydney Gain: 24 and 25
Out: 14 and Bird

Essendon Gain: 5 and Bird
Out: Carlisle and Pick 25

Seems like a pretty even trade... Fair play to Essendon for getting a good deal if this is accurate.

Another possibility is that Essendon gibe up two seconds and we give them a 3Rd rounder instead of giving our 2Nd to Sydney.

This would be a far better result... Essentially our offer from Monday but we have thrown in a 3Rd and Sydney gave them Bird.

Gives us two seconds to throw up for an upgrade alongside pick 14

all animosity aside, you guys aren't going to give a flying **** about pick 5 about halfway through next year when Carlisle has already been tearing it up down back, and all of a sudden a close game is on the line and the coach swings Big Jake forwards and he kicks 3 in a the last quarter to win the game.

Good luck to St Kilda and Jake. I hope he can have a wonderful career and be happier in his football at his new club

Sure hope so mate!!

Freeman and Carlisle in the one day. We keep next years first and sounds like this years we have a first rounder.

If some say Essendon have won so be it.
We have a potential gun mid who nominated us, a 200cm Backman who nominated us and a FS who nominated us.

Excellent trading.

Personally happy it is done & hopefully we don't have to deal with Essendon for 10years.
Actually rapt with backline , we finally will not get owned by Hawkins, JacK R, Tippett, Kennedy.

I am backing our recruiting guys in well done.

any bitterness at not "winning" the trade will be forgotten when our backline is 100% better on game 1 of 2016 with Carlisle and a second year Goddard running around.

Add to that a screaming jet in freeman who surprises us all and whoever we get at pick 14 and you'll all forget about the player we could of had at 5.

Who knows shit happens, maybe pick 5 pulls a petracca and does an acl in pre season (to be clear I hope this does not happen as it sucked for the kid)

I'm more excited by Freeman. If his hammies stay on he will be a very good player to watch. He has sweet acceleration and seems a bit of a play maker.

5 into 14 and Carlisle is decent

5 and 24 into 14 and Carlisle....not so much

But 5 into 14 and Carlisle is unrealistic. We've got our man and managed to stay in the first round in the process.

It actually is a pretty fair deal for all clubs imo

When Dodoro has been a reported arse-hat throughout this whole process, he deserved to be shafted either via trade or via the PSD. Any modicum of "fairness" in a deal is too much.

Not sure how people are saying Essendon 'won' here? The whole time they demanded Carlisle for pick 5 in a straight swap to the point where they even refused pick 10, which we were willing to give up in principle. For this trade to have gone through for Sydney, Essendon must be giving up their 2nd too. That means they have given up Carlisle and pick 23/25 for Pick 5, and therefore gone back on what they said they wanted the whole time.

We, on the other hand, said we were never going to give pick 5 in a straight swap, and now appear to have stayed true to this and got Carlisle in the process. While we would ideally like to keep our 2nd, getting Carlisle and a 1st rounder for 5 and and 24 is pretty good going if you ask me!

Also, don't forget the club has gone into this trade period with the same aim of getting 3 first round picks or equivalent talent. With Carlisle (who most agree is worth around 8-15), Freeman (pick 10 2 years ago) and pick 14, that is an excellent effort!

How can't we be happy. Even if lose 5 and 24 and get 14 back. We get a 200cm key back. When is the last time we had that. Remember Zac Dawson as our best backman and last year Luke Delaney as our best backman. We get a gun backman who can go with the big boys. 200cm key back ready to go. Where else can u buy one. Especially one who wants to play for us.

All this posturing... i reckon all clubs would be happy..

Eserendon would be - OOC and wanting to leave Carlisle for 5 is a win
5 and 24 for Carlisle( who most say is worth 10 -15 anyway) + 14 is a bit meh imo.

Sydney will win no matter what
