We kick off the thread with the good news that David Mirra and Mitch O'Donnell have signed contracts to remain with the Box Hill Hawks in 2017.

The Box Hill Hawks are excited to announce that Captain and Best and Fairest winner David Mirra and fourth year player Mitchell O’Donnell have re-signed and will play on with the club for the 2017 season.

Would be great if we were able to entice both Ryan Exon and Brandon Wood back to the club now that the Dolphins look unlikely to be part of the competition next season.
Other Dolphins of interest would include Ben Cavarra, Andrew McInnes (ex-Carlton) and their skipper Jason Pongracic

Also a young kid by the name of Hugh Beasley was delisted by Brisbane recently and will be returning to Melbourne. Showed promise at TAC level and we could do with a developing tall who can play both forward and back.

And what a coup it would be if we could get the cult figure Luke Lowden back now that he has been delisted by the Crows.

Former Tasmanian and original Gold Coast Suns squad member and 17yo selection Luke Russell has moved to Melbourne to continue his career in the VFL and just happens to be living with the J-Bomb!!! Could I be sniffing a new Stangas recruit?

Also happens to be great mates with Mav Weller so Sandy may be another possibility.

When will Connor Nash start training, and would we expect him to start in the Devepolment squad?

I'd be surprised if we don't announce it before he starts training. He'd start preseason with HFC like all other draftees I would have thought.

This is a really good pick up. Played very well early in his first season with the Lions in the NAB Cup where they gave him exposure then injuries have hindered him since. A really hungry type of footballer.

Lets hope we can nab a ruckman (Lowden anyone one??) and a key position player now with experience.

HH - any truth in the rumors we are in discussions with ex-Tasmanian and former Docker Brady Grey as well as Will Magginess (nephew of Scott) who stayed on at East Perth after being delisted by the Eagles?

Former premiership player and ex-Dolphin Ryan Exxon has joined Coburg along with development squad player Liam Kidd - confirmed on the Coburg website.

2 great Clubmen in Tom Gordon and Jake Summers leaving to play local football with local club Doncaster East. A shame Jake isn't giving it another year as I thought he was really starting to come into his own and senior opportunities would open up.

DONCASTER East’s big man stocks have received a major boost with the addition of Box Hill duo Jake Summers and Tom Gordon.

The pair have been previously been aligned with the Lions, where Gordon’s father Michael is the president and brother Dan plays, but will join Zerbes Reserve full-time in 2017.

Doncaster East coach Steve Buckle said Summers and Gordon, both key position players, would provide important versatility up forward and in defence for the Lions, who were eliminated in the first week of the Division 2 finals this year.

“I’ve been into him (Tom) over the past couple of years calling him during the year and end of the year to see what he is doing,” Buckle said.

“He has always given it one more year to see where he sat and I think especially at the end of last year he was pretty close.

“I think he was talking with a couple of AFL clubs so he just wanted to have one more crack but things didn’t pan out the way they wanted so he is happy to come back and play with us.”

Summers captained Box Hill’s development team to the premiership this year and managed eight senior games for the Hawks.

Gordon, who was also a part of the 105-point grand final win over Casey, managed 47 senior appearances for Box Hill from 2012 to this year and played 18 games for Collingwood’s VFL side in 2011.

However, the Lions have lost Shane Tennant, who has joined Mt Eliza, while ruckman Mark Paget has also left the club.

“It is looking like at this stage we’ll be hanging on to most our list, whether that stays that way is another thing,” Buckle said.

“We’re still in talks with a few others so we’re hoping if talks go well we can still snare a few other names as well.”

The Lions, who started pre-season training last night, will also enter an under-19s team in 2017 after not having enough numbers to field a side this year.

Scratch Brady Grey from the list - re-rookied by the Dockers.
Hope we are still talking to Will Maginess and now that Billy Gowers has been delisted by the Blues he would have to be a chance to come across seeing his old man Andy is the HFC football director.
Would be a nice touch to have a Maginess and Gowers back in the fold.
