Will be watching Yeo as I'm not sold on him, Picking him on the basis he will be collecting the ball through the midfield and the odd goal.

KK don't really want him got 75K in the kitty might pull him out yet.............................

Laird and Roberton definitely locked.

Yeo is an interesting one as he may plug holes for WC, I started with KK & Laird last year as my mid price picks but traded both players out without even giving them a proper chance lol. I rate KK
& Laird very highly because of this, both my current D3 & D4 :thumbsu:

Pencil both in for 95+ avg IMHO.

Yeah this year I'm trying really hard to nail my defence as its what's screwed me last year, managed to stay in the top 1000 but I was burning trades as I kept getting hit with suspensions and injuries constantly in the defence and ultimately killed me at the end of year dropped to like 8000 something overall.

Yeah I finished 22,000 something after finishing in the top 2,000 in 2014.

Thanks TBC  :drunk:

Chris Yarran and Michael Johnson were the culprits for me, I traded out Yarran and bought him back in only to have to trade him out again haha

Very frustrating......

Edit: I bought Grant Birchall in at the wrong time to !!!!

Dane Rampe has been a pre-season machine since he arrived at the Swans and his running power could be put on show further up the ground in 2016. The defender has often pushed himself to the point of exhaustion during training sessions and has played through the midfield at times during match simulation drills. Rampe has a penetrating left foot that has been a key weapon for the Swans off half back, but he's the perfect size for an onballer and could add to the club's already stacked midfield division.

What's everyone's thoughts on rampe??

I have only just today given him some serious consideration. Mostly as Jetta has left after playing back flank all year. Malcheski gone the year before. Someone has to play that swweper/outlet in defense.
Not worried about the midfield minutes. I see him getting a high scoring gig in Sydneys back line.

Will watch in NAB, so role and NAB performance dependant for me.

Mills a sneaky chance for that role I reckon, seems very highly rated internally

Looking at the defensive line, Im not shelling out too much $coin$ this year- hard to pick who will finish top 10 outside of Shaw and he's a touch pricey to start :(
Eyes are on Bartel and KK, maybe Yeo and Smith also...
Considering starting Boyd because of his great record under the roof and they play their first 7 there, but have to factor in he'll miss games (particularly away and late in the year)

No offence, but I'm not changing my view of him after reading this non story.

The article is a good example of a pretty piece of preseason fluff that oozes out of the AFL media machine. Basically the only actual facts are he's training the house down like 95% of the AFLs listed players and he's ran a bit in the mids, again not unusual for a preseason hit out for forwards and backs who have the fitness to do so.

I guess we can watch him in the preseason but would he score enough to be a keeper even with a bit more midfield time? Especially with so many entrenched Swannies claiming the big midfield points. On the positive side his scoring history does show a nice upward trend that goes in his favour.

Yeo, Rich, Bartel etc all a similar price and more likely to get more time in the mids and finish with a 95+ ave in my opinion.

Can I ask why Roberton is getting so much affection? DId he play well in the mids in the scratchy or is he a mid/def that has reached a certain age to take off?
Thoughts on this please.

KK a bit raw IMO. Can trade in if he explodes.

Will you be starting with mills? How many games do you see him playing, currently have him at M7!
A rookie for such an important role?
Will have to keep an eye out on NAB.
I'm starting Mills at this point. I see him taking a similar trajectory to Heeney's first year - will play most games unless injured. Re: H2TYW's question, I think it's important to draw a distinction between a "rookie" in the traditional sense, and an academy player who has essentially already spent a few years in the Swans system (and has a good track record playing against men). Reports on our board suggest that Mills' game time was being carefully managed by the Swans last year, but that he was still at the club almost every day getting up to speed with game day systems etc. At the moment it's just a hunch and I'll be watching closely during NAB, but my thinking is:
  • Mills played off HB during the intraclub on Friday
  • Spots are available in the 22 with Goodes, Shaw and Jetta moving on
  • Over the last few years the Swans have blooded their new mids with HF roles (see Heeney, Mitchell, Parker), but we are currently stocked with players who can rotate through this area. HB is a more pressing need
  • Mills has an AFL ready body.
  • Turnovers in transition killed us last year (along with rubbish kicks into the F50). Mills' decision making under pressure is supposedly one of his strongest attributes - very useful for a HB role. Rampe has a booming kick and good turn of pace, but has a tendency to butcher his kicks more than Mal did. Rampe's shutdown capabilities are also very good - I don't know who we put on the pacey, tall Gunston types if Rampe starts taking Shaw's role?
I suspect Mills may be worth the extra cash this year.

FYI - Mills playing on buddy (photo taken by the magnificent Jeffers from our board). He looks in ripping nick:

Thanks for the detailed write up, he's a lock for me :thumbsu::)
