Bob. I think that is a little premature until you meet Ormond, that will give you a feel for where you are at. Bit Like the Doggies when they met the Hawks this week.

Spot on Bob... Early days but both promoted teams look pretty good. Both should also have wins this week with both playing relegation favs BT & Yarra Valley.

OAFC v NOBS match of the round for me. OAFC win this & you could say it's a three horse race for the flag with OAFC, Kew & SMS fighting it out.

Yes. My post was merely meant as a recap of the first two rounds and what we can deduce from them. Anything more insightful you would wish to add?
 
Saints and Bears are traveling well and will continue to do so. I have history with both clubs and it's good to see district clubs going well.I will not be surprised if they go to the big dance. Ormond would like a say in proceedings I believe. Percentage is garnered in the early season. StMarys have shown well Vs NOBS/StPats. Kew defeating Prahran an Old Geelong. Round six will be a good indication. There, enough for you to digest?

He may work at the school but definitely won't be being paid.

Also - on the district clubs leaving the VAFA, Hampton Rovers have given themselves the best chance to succeed because they've invested in their juniors and allowed them to succeed by being one club. Very similar to Rowville in the EFL most of their talent comes within and they back that they have the culture to keep players once they come to the club.

Former vfl player Josh Muling at mazenod as a result of getting a job there, it was a condition of employment from what I've heard.

When his brother and his future brother in law are there also, good clubs look after their own professionally. As do Xavs as do St Bernard's. Nothing wrong with getting them a job. Paying them on the side is a different story.

Kew to thump Yarra Valley by 10 goals
Ormond by 5 goals over NOBS
SMS to teach Bulleen Temp a lesson by 80
Prahran to get on the board this season with a 5 goal win over Old Mentone
Old Geelong to just pip Whitefriars by a goal

While only being early days after witnessing Kew dominate the past couple of seasons I could see them replicate the back-to-back-to-back promotion and currently being the team to beat. Early days. I did notice that they've derived 5 players from Bullen-Temp this year. Are they 1's players and if so any idea why such a number of players left together to Kew?

Back in the day, Kew used to have a strong under 19's which fed their seniors beautifully. When the 19's folded, Kew juniors started joining other senior clubs (eg Bulleen Temp). Now that Kew FC are on the up, there are many players at neighbouring clubs who are rejoining.

Reserves/club 18 players. Bulleen Temp do not have a club 18 this year.
 
Ive watched both Ormond and St Marys over the first 2 weeks against Yarra and it will be a very close match. They both play totally different styles of play.
Ormond bring all of there numbers to the ball and then spread hard and St Mary's is a more open running style. I think Ormonds will hold up better under pressure buy I may be wrong.

Could be pretty spot on there. SMS's style causes them to absolutely flog sides who are worse than them, but if you look back at last season they lost nearly all of their close matches under pressure, including the Grand Final (despite easily dismantling Kew in the first final). Tends to be the case with young sides. If they have recruited some more aggressive in-and-under midfielders over the summer though they may have patched up that achilles heel.

The small ground at Gunn is quite helpful when it comes to limiting time and space too.

Not as small as Ferndale Reserve. The Saints play that postage stamp pretty well. Sincerely, I wish Ormond well on Saturday. The club's contribution to junior football is commendable.:)

Not familiar with Ferndale but when playing well the Monders are very good at applying the squeeze at Gunn.
