Important win for NOBS/Brunswick/St Patricks Ballarat/Moreland Panters today.

That definitely puts Prahran/Assumption/Southbank/Commonwealth Bank/Stonnigton Two Blues right under the pump.
 
i thought we put up a good fight after our terrible first qtr vs a solid OG side today but no burbury is a big out for them. mathers and robbo were good today but just not quite good enough to get the chocolates.
 
PA put up a great effort today. We struggled with our entry into the forward line all day. Our mids started to dominate after half time! Huge for us next week against the bannisters. Shut them down we get the 4 points + %

I think " dominate " is a bit strong. Unfortunatejy . I think you are headed to D2!
 
OM went ok yesterday. Solid outfit. Very free flowing hard running team. PEGS gave away 4-5 25 m free kicks in first half and were wasteful up front,that didn't allow PEGS be on top in first half. They kicked away won comfortably in the end. PEGS have few keys coming back from overseas soon, lost couple to the vfl, and have three back from long term injuries next few weeks. All teams have injuries can't use that excuse, still very even 1-5. Bottom teams are playing well fighting relegation. Have to be on your game.

Old Geelong v Therry to be the match of the Round. Whoever wins it IMO will lock in top 2 spot. Every game at the moment for a top 4 contender is a danger game. However, the home ground advantage for OM, PEGS and SMS should see them over the line against rising challengers. Unlikely for Ivanhoe to slot into the 4 now with OM away, Therry home, SMS away. SMS have a better run home than PEGS to finish in the 4, having: Parade H, NOBS A, Ivanhoe H, PEGS A, PA H. While PEGS has NOBS H, PA H, Therry A, SMS H, OG A. I would predict that SMS to win all remaining games except Pegs away, but I wouldn't back PEGS to beat either Therry or OG. Regardless, it'll come down to the last game.

Is it? Every team plays better at their home deck, but, Therry and OG are exceptional at home. Most teams will be gearing towards full strength within the next fortnight and past performances give us an indication of how we believe clubs will perform in the future. I would agree with your point that "it's a long way to go" if Rd18 serves to prove there's a dead rubber game in the mix. We will wait and see which club can win the crucial away games.

Agree with the premise of home strengths for Therry and OG. Difference with tomorrow's game is that OG v Therry isn't at Como but Geelong Grammar, so it's a new ground for both sides apart from about half the OG team who played the ground at school. Should be a great game.

Therry v OG should be a belter of the game. These two teams full strength are very strong. I was very impressed with Therry who play a very hard contested game. OG are equally as impressive, if both teams are full strength there shouldn't be much between the two.

dang it! we started so well today with a 5 goal to 1 first quarter but got dominated from that point. parade beating sms today nearly all but seals us goin down :(

Couple of interesting games this week.

On the form of the last 5 weeks, Old Mentonians will be made to earn it away at Old Paradians. Don't be surprised if there's an upset here.

Therry will also have a tricky assignment at Ivanhoe despite the home side's poor form of late. The Hoes need the Blackmoore-Moore's firing!

St Mary's are desperate for a win but so are NOBS and at the Gillon that is going to be a close encounter.

The Friars should improve from their last outing at Como which saw them belted by nearly 30 goals, but don't think they'll get the chocolates.

PEGS should be too strong for PA at the Runway despite the Two Blues getting a few back over the last few weeks.
