Surprised to see Berry, Korewha, Atley, English and Venables (was very, very quiet until the last 5 mins on Monday) as high as they are. Cannot believe Dylan Clarke doesn't get a mention - not the pick the Dogs need but his form all year has been just terrific and his Metro game was outstanding, for mine. I also think McGrath is easily top 10 worthy, even though I hope he can slide, and his last quarter for Metro just reaffirmed that. Absolutely huge talent, regardless of his size, and I struggle to think of a weak side to his game (maybe contested ball-winning?). Him and Mutch are my early favourites this year. I'm worried about Ainsworth's mental game, too. Was phenomenal in the third qtr for Country but almost non-existent in the first half, and a four-game suspension is a bit concerning for a draftable player.

My rankings are a lot of me trying to tell the future in 2-3 years as much as the present performances and I don't have Simon Dalrymple's Tardis. They ones who are high up that you mentioned are mostly me using a crystal ball.

I'm watching the replay now
One of the Vic country boys for next
year has impressed me to half time
So glad that I didn't end up missing it

Hunter Clark or Worpel?
Claverino
Of the players we haven't talked about, Jok has been good in that first half
Scrimshaw to had shown how mobile he can be for a tall, has also used the ball well. The last game I watched him in, he was marking everything
I agree that Clarke has looked solid to, at least in this first half

Damn that McGrath is impressive
Seemed to get better as the game went on to, likewise with Taranto
I thought Mcluggage was quiet after the first half, a blind over the shoulder hand pass in defense was certainly not his best moment
Clarke was huge the whole game, I actually thought Berry was pretty smart & since it was his first game back last week after coming back from an injury. I'd expect that he only gets better from here

As a small collective of amateur recruiters on this board we've definitely improved our ability to get on guys early. Taranto and McGrath are the first two this year we were on early. Again, I'd swap a few in and it off your top 30 and I fancy some players more than others (I'm super high on setterfield yet wouldn't take SPS in the top 5) but the names are all out there and most are rising fast. I was even quite impressed with Willem Drew for country being able to kick two nice goals and he seemed more involved than his stats suggest. Lots of water to go under the bridge still.

Jok did play well, looks very classy with ball in hand. Lowered his eyes kicking inside 50, laid tackles, won the hard ball and used it well. Pass to Drew inside 50 was perfectly weighted. His height for a mid makes him stand out.

Fumbles a fair bit though.
Seems to have plenty to work with so wouldn't be against using a lateish pick for him at all. Great athlete, great size and has some nice skills. Started watching the first quarter again and now really noticing some of the work from young Worpel around the stoppages. First class. Definitely an inside mid to watch for next year. Scrimshaw has a nice sidestep. Taranto and Florent give metro a heap of creativity in their front half, the first goal from Metro involved Florent, Taranto and Venables. Florent was clean at ground level, swooped on it and kicked to Taranto who knocked it on to Venables instead of marking, Venables broke a tackle and found Larkey in acres of space to finish.

After watching through the game again Callum Brown was Metro's best followed by Clarke. Would love Taranto. Scrimshaw showed signs and I'll be interested to see what he can do in the remaining champs games. Want to see more of Florent this champs looked really silky off the HFF. Larkey would be a late pick but definitely has the forward smarts and is surprisingly good below his knees for someone at 198cm just need to have him get confidence in his set shot kicking.

For Country Berry was good when he got it. Just didn't get enough of it. Korewha moves so well for a bloke who stands around 193cm and didn't waste the ball too much, still reckon he'd be able to develop as a midfielder at an AFL club. Their underage players are all quite good even a year out from next years draft. Sean Darcy is a bit like Mumford and dominated McGregor. Jok was very good at times but at other times he fumbled and allowed Metro players in, he needs to work on his endurance. Myles Polholke has something.

deserves its own thread.
Do have have a "Witch17" & "Danielle1" to do the hard scouting yards?
My club is doing a Womens Elite Pathway program next week for the next 6 weeks so i will keep an eye out

Agree with Korewha, often players with a unique set of skills would be best utilised as a mid where they can use all their skills around the ball. Allison is the same, probably best used on ball or chf

Chris Grant daughter plays footy at high school and is playing state footy for her school.
She appears to be the first father daughter for us

Scrimshaw
Korewha
Junker
Allison (Bris Academy)
Berry

Reckon that all these players have midfield scope and are all 190cm+

I read a bit about Scrimshaw really early saying he's got the scope to play midfield, and even as small-style forward (although obviously not literally being a small forward). That's what had me bringing him up way back at the start of this thread.

I like him as a player it is just his injury history that has me a bit worried.

Just watched Country v Metro, Andrew McGrath and Jordan Gallucci would have to be my favourites.

McGrath is someone I could see fitting right in in our defence; athletic, brave, takes the game on, and most impressively stepped up and played his best footy when the game was on the line. He's also someone they seem to trust to send to the opposition's best players like Ainsworth and McCluggage to quell their influence. Has the versatility to play through the midfield too which is a bonus.

Gallucci is just a beautiful user of the ball by foot, ambidextrous and shows a bit of inside ability as well and did a couple of exciting things at clearances. Didn't have a huge amount of the ball and he drifted out of the game at times which is something he could work on but there's definitely plenty to work with.

Also liked some of Oliver Florent's work, there's just something about him I liked. Gets himself in good spots and seems like an intelligent player.

Hugh McCluggage obviously very impressive and a good user like Gallucci but seems like he'd be out of reach for us.

I remember he played as a fwd for the allies in the pre Grand final curtain raiser last year and kicked a couple of goals.

Taranto looks like he could make a career as a mid or a high half forward, looks natural in both positions. Definitely someone that would be on Dalrymple's radar. Also comes from a basketball background.

Reckon he becomes a midfielder who can go forward. Huge running ability imo.

Yeah I agree but on a team with an already established great midfield he could just as easily make an equal contribution coming off the front of the square. Basically what makes our game plan sustainable for 4 quarters.
