World Supers are on at Sepang this weekend. Our own Ant West is filling in on a privateer Pedercini Kawasaki for the injured Sylvain Barrier and after the two free practices he's 9th fastest - ahead of both factory Kawasakis.

Speaking of Kawasaki, Johnny Rea has signed on for another two years. His rift with Tom Sykes has been growing by the week and it is said Tom now wants out of Kawasaki and is in talks with Ducati.

Have they changed the Sepang circuit layout ?
I'm sure a few weeks back I heard them saying a few sections had changed, including the final corner.

Sykes comes through from having to do Superpole 1 to setting a new lap record in Superpole 2 and thus, obviously, pole position. Now, whilst you'd expect a new lap record on a resurfaced track, Sykes lapped nealy 8 tenths under the old record, a time that Alex Lowes equalled in qualifying second. Pretty bloody fast! West has qualified in 11th for the races.

Just on West, it's been determined that with this race in WSB, he has now raced in 8 different world championships. 125cc, 250cc, 500cc, Moto2, MotoGP, WSS, WSB and World Endurance. Mr Versatile!

Sykes sacrificing going for outright pace in favour of finding a tyre friendly setup has paid dividends on race day*, winning race one by 5.6 seconds over Rea. West impresses on his WSB debut with 9th place. Josh Brookes finishes a solid 11th and Josh Hook picks up his first championship point in 15th place. Dunno the last time three Australians finished a WSB race in the points.

*It's going to take a while to remember race day in WSB is now Saturday as well as Sunday..

Westy does love those changeable conditions.
Yep,Well done to Westy in both races.
If there is even a few drops of rain Westy shines.lol
Maybe team owners(wsbk or mtrgp)) should keep an eye out on that weekends weather and have Westy on standby.;):D
Was abit surprised in the 2nd race how bad Brookes went considering how good the Aussies are in the wet.

Is everyone enjoying this one race each day format? I keep forgetting or am already occupied doing other stuff to watch the Saturday race. Think I've only ever seen the one and that was Phillip Island.

Pretty much the same though I haven't got Foxtel so have to head to someone else's (usually my parents) house to watch. I can do it one night but not two.

Josh Hook has finally reached fitness, scored his first points in both the wet and dry race at Sepang - and lost his ride. o_O:mad:

“I am not paying for my ride and I think that is the sole reason it has happened,” said Hook. “His (Grillini’s) wife gave me a call and said ‘we don’t want you riding any more because you are not performing as good as you should.’ In Sepang I was nearly twenty seconds faster than my team-mate in race one, and over a minute in front in race two.”

Don't you just love motorsport. If you don't have money you have to be VERY good.

Tom Sykes and Jonathon Rea have each signed on with Kawasaki for a further two years.
Chaz Davies has signed on for a further two years at Ducati. He will be joined by Marco Melandri.
Michael van der Mark is leaving Honda and switching to Yamaha. He will be replaced at Ten Kate by Stefan Bradl.
Josh Brookes looks out of a ride with the Milwaukee team likely to become an Aprilia factory assisted outfit running Lorenzo Savadori and one of Leon Camier or Eugene Laverty.
Also, Ant West is a possible for a full time ride with the Pedercini team next year with which he has been deputising for one of their injured riders this year and giving them their best ever results.

Ducati's sponsor Aruba.it specifies that they have to have an Italian rider. Plus the word is that Lorenzo's incoming fat contract is putting the squeeze on. So they've gone for a pay rider. Rubbish move.

I've no problem with Googs getting booted, he's had ample opportunity and produced only sporadic reward. Would've much rather seen an up and coming young Italian paired with Davies than a guy who has had lots and lots of opportunities.
