Watched Higgin's highlights...so absolute armchair critic at best. Don't want at the cost of pick 10.

Not dissing him, just like other body types and skillsets more for AFL and Carlton.

Thinking he will start fwd and eventually move into the midfield. With midfield not 100% guaranteed in terms of full time midfielder first and foremost.

Looking at our previous crop of draftees in SPS, Pickett, Lebois and Fisher, drafting Higgins just gives us a poser of who to play fwd and midfield in 2+ years as these guys fall into a similar category of fwds/mids (+ same height range). And this is ignoring Murphy for next 2/3 years. Yes, all different styles of player but only see each playing mid/fwd causing over supply.

For pick ten, rather pay for a true midfielder, midfielder/defender (H Clark), midfielder/winger.

For a barrelling small fwd player, rather find one with pick 20+. Reserve 1-10 for KPP or midfield silk.

With two knees recos. No thanks.

I’m not 100% sure but apparently it wasn’t 2 seperate tears of the ACL. He tore it once had the surgery and then they redid the surgery again because they botched it. So really its only one recovery period and one tear.
Changes the scout report for me

In his tomorrow's heroes vid, he said he did it at 16 when someone fell across it, took 14 months to get back and after 4 games it gave way when turning.

Still 2 knee reco’s, he actually played footy in between both surgeries.

Stingrays talent manager Mark Wheeler said Bonar loomed as a very early pick before the first surgery, which didn't work as well as hoped.

"The feedback then was that it wasn't necessarily a second ACL, it was just that the first operation didn't take properly. Technically he's had two, but the first one the graft didn't take and just let go," Wheeler said.

Big difference between his body failing him or a collision injury, and the surgeon ******* it up.

Still involved a second tendon graft though yeah? I'm not sure when failed grafts became referred to as 'non ACLs'. Seems odd, particularly as Bonar will still go somewhere in the earlier stages of the draft.

I don’t see him being top 10 either and think his ceiling is probably along the lines of a Jarryd Blair type.

Nothing like Jarryd Blair, if anything Steele Sidebottom. His only weakness is speed, I wouldn't consider being 178cm tall a weakness.
Professional attitude, work ethic, skills, goal kicking.
If he was 5cm taller he'd be a top 5 pick.

We'd be lucky to snag him.

The graft not attaching properly is not a mechanical failure on the part of the player. He's fully recovered and ready to do an AFL pre-season.

It's not about attributing blame to the player or surgeon. Its about calling the surgery what it is. Menzel, Morabito, etc there have been plenty of failed ACL grafts in the past.

I suppose there's some grey area between the body's own attachment process and surgical error, but the point of the language would be to suggest his knee giving way was not an issue of significant mechanical stress on the ligament.

There will be some seriously good players slip through if only 2 players bolt into that top 10.

Don't think Stephenson would be out of the question at all.

Are they doing the “reverse” top 10 this year for the broadcast, i really hope not

Think they've canned it thankfully.

Much more interesting watching the pics as they happen, and becomes pretty apparent who those picks are after a couple of selections.

Either eay his knee has had major surgery twice now and will never be the same again.

Surgical techniques are improving all the time, and he's young. He's clearly done the physio properly and then done all the right work.

Top 10 for sprints and agility at the combine. The agility test is pretty taxing on the knees and ankles.

Impressive that he featured in the top 10 for agility, considering his size and history..
Still scares me.
