If we got Dow and Fogarty I'd cry of happiness. I guess there is a bit of bust potential with Fogarty, but he also has huge upside. He's a big boy with an elite kick. O'Brien is also someone I'd like at #10. Him and Dow have chem, they went to school together. Best kick in the draft and already has a big tank.

Reading his bio, he sounds like Nick Dal Santo. Is that a good comparison?
Think thats actually a decent comparison. Gaff is another one.
Great tank, quick (national 400m runner), runs all day both ways and has an exceptional kick. All class.
Was rated a clear top 10 at the start of the year, been battling injuries all year so hasnt had the best year.

You forgot pick 10 if pick 10 ends up being a good player the trade could end up being a massive win long term
I was talking about next year. I see losing Gibbs as some short term pain for big long term gain.

I would Higgins or O'Brien at #10. I understand both are extremely different players so here is some quick thoughts of mine on each.

Jack Higgins - A small forward/midfielder who consistently finds his own ball, has good endurence and possesses elite footy IQ and goal nous. He averaged 25 disposals and kicked 29 goals in 13 games in the TAC Cup, winning him the Morrish Medal. Also scoring a bag of 7 goals in a game against the Pioneers. The only real knock on him is at his height of 178cm and whether he can translate these levels of performance in AFL. For such a outstanding prospect I think the reward far outweighs the risk and could well be gone before our pick 10.

Lockie O'Brien - One of the highest regarded players coming into the 2017 season, this outside midfielder/half back flanker possesses good speed, damaging disposal from his left boot and an exceptional work rate. His excellent endurance and work rate mean he is a strong two-way runner and this allows him to dictate play and create from deep in defence as well as in attack. Unfortunately his draft stocks have plummeted due to an injury interrupted year. Like higgins I believe his calibre should put him in the mix for our #10.

I think Kennedy alone will make the trade a win in the long term.

Kid is a jet. He is primed to step up in his 3rd year with more responsibility after a solid 16 games for a preliminary finals team.

People have to remember that we had a 19 year old Weitering, Rowe and Plowman and had just picked up 20 year old Marchbank in a trade prior to drafting Macreadie. We then grabbed ASOS for depth.

Liam Jones hadn't even moved back yet. So Macreadie did fill a need when drafted.
Almost every player ever drafted "fills a need" to some degree because clubs are constantly trying to improve what they have. The only time that would change is when you have impeccable group of players in a certain area and you draft a player that you don't rate as particularly better than what you already have. The former tactic I fully justify whereas the latter is probably not a good idea.

Can't see either going Top 10. Too many better prospects ahead of them

I want LDU at 3 and Clark at 10

I have LDU ranked at 1 and Clark at 5

I’m not adverse to taking Oscar Allen at 10 though. I have him ranked at pick 9

Bit surprised Oscar Allen's not mentioned much. Probably not on CFC's radar but reckon he will be one to watch in the future.

How many here would pick O'Brien over Clark?

Rayner at 3 and Clark at 10 would be the perfect draft.

Four months ago, I would have said LOB easily, Clark has closed the gap. Can have the occasional brain fade by foot, but generally very sound. Actually think he is better on his non-preferred left, has vice like hands and rarely fumble.

Guy is rarely caught either, and when he is, he always gets his hands free to dish off the ball.
