Can’t see simmo playing on past this year so I see it as a smart way to develop a few players. Doc injury makes coffield even more desirable

Sure he is an outside player - but they don't get much smarter than him on where to be and what to do with it. Plus he's fast and can run out the game better than most. Who in our team can we say does this? Just SPS and maybe Fisher. Our first pick is likely a bull plus we now have Cripps, Kennedy and both Curnow boys to do some dirty work. I think we need this type of player to learn from Murphy and co before he retires.
What a great game it is when we can happily say the game takes all sorts.
Just an afterthought, how good would we be in 2 years time if we had an Isaac Smith or Gunston type just hitting their straps as with the rest of the current mob around them?
Bloody awesome.

We have plenty of half back players.
Wait until Marchbank comes back. If not, Macready can slot straight in. If not, Byrne can slot straight in. If not, ASOS can slot straight in. If not, hell I'll buy some boots and slot straight in

Its not about covering Docs defensive post. It's the loss in the midfield. I suspect he was going to play there in 2018.

We aren't going to challenge forbthe flag this year, so sure, let's go get some mids and give them 20 odd games in our system in preparation for an assault on 2019.
Anyway i think I've made my agenda pretty clear, I'll show myself out! :)
 
Next year is not only about winning more games but being competitive while developing our future.

I have a line in to his sibling.
Get occasional info. But TBH the family don't let much slip.
 
I reckon after that article about Naughton wanting to go to Collingwood over Freo, they must have given him some assurance that they will pick him at 6.

Therefore:
1-5: Raynor, LDU, Dow, Cerra, Brayshaw
6: Naughton
7: Stephenson

Therefore for D. Fogarty to get to us at 10 we need 2 of Coffield, N. Murphy, E. Richards, A. Bonar, H. Clark to get selected. I see Coffield definitely going at either 8 or 9, so it's just one of the others!

If Collingwood is going for Naughton as we suspect, that's good for us.

Effectively means there's 9 picks, of which we have 2, for the following players: LDU, Dow, Rayner, Cerra, Brayshaw, Stephenson, Coffield, Fogarty and Clark.

If anyone else goes ahead of our second - Bonar, Constable, Brander, Hayes, Higgins, Allen, Murphy, etc - then we're in a really, really good position. Really, really, really good.

Dunno about that.

IF Brisbane take someone else he'll easily get to 3

Then completely up to St Kilda, who might prefer two of (Stephenson, Murphy, Coffield and Bonar).

This draft is very even at the top with a marginal gap between the first few and the rest of the top 10-15.

Thought he'd be going somewhere between the 4-10 range, but it's almost impossible to predict and all it takes is one surprise for things to really change.

Next Friday night is going to be very interesting. Talk now is that he's in with a chance of going to the Lions at 1.
 
What is the go with the story on Stephenson and his heart condition?

No real detail on what it all means but wonder what it means for his draft value :/

You’ve always been a bit different Paf....one of the very few over many years willing to trade good players for good draft picks and have multiple early.

I’ll bet you love the way SOS is going about things?

Just a hunch; mix of size, presence and a neat side-step. He probably has the biggest 'upside' of any player and I have always been one to gamble on high risk/high reward types. I'm fully prepared to look like a fool if I get it wrong but is the club? :$;)
