Has there ever been another touted top-10 pick whose hype is solely based on their underage year? What separates Fogarty from, say, Worpel?

Stamos
Samo
Samo's 2016 highlights were p.good and (correct me if I'm wrong) he had a strong all star game. Fogarty's most memorable 2017 highlight is a failed fend-off.
And 2e, Hibberd and Laird go alright as well. Easier to find a HBF after the second round than it is a gun midfielder. Plenty of good midfielders become HBFs as well.Wow really?? Docherty and Brodie Smith are handy. There are plenty of running backs taken in the 1st rounds
Yep Houli wasn't a 1st rounder.Look at nearly every premiership won and look how big of a role HBF's have played. Also if we continue to play in our back half then they will play as big of a role in our game plan as anyone.

O'Brien has an incredible left peg but he looks like a deer in headlights when it comes to the contest, has a real DVR feel about him. SOS must pick a genuine inside and outside midfielder here.
Saints were definitely one of them, I think I remember hearing Freo as well but I’m not certain of that.Which were the clubs who attended Stephenson’s heart screening?
Supposedly there were only a few.
Samo's top 10 ranking was very much based off his 2015 though
yeah, but he then showed enough in his draft year to hold value. Fog seems like an early developer with no clear position, pick 10 imo is way too early for that type of player

Thats the beauty of this draft though. Previous years around this time you can almost nail the top 10 in order. The only real certainly to me is LDU goes 1 or 3. Rayner could slip to us, Fogarty could go 4 which means Cerra slips. Then you have Stephenson, Bonar and Naughton who could go anywhere in the 1st round as high as pick 5 with question marks over them or being pick based on club needs. Its gonna be all over the shop and quite an interesting draft to watch. I think we are actually very well poised at pick 10 to get some absolute talent and intrigues me more than our pick 3.It’s gotten to the point where l think we should call this thread,
“2017 Draft - Pick 10 - We have no idea who we are taking”

If Richards can beat his man then that is exactly what we need. We get carved up by small forwards. We do also have the new Irish recruit who will likely fill a similar role.
But that also being said with the premiership being won by a small forward line, do we need 3-4 small defenders in the best 22 every week?
I think the call on Richards would be if they see him as more than just a running HB which sounds possible.
Does it matter so much if we get decent trade value for him should the time come?Does Fogarty have strong ties with SA?
For some reason i just have it in my head that he's a bit of a flight risk and likely to request a trade to SA at least at some point in his career, even if it's not after 2 years.
It doesn't matter where someone was taken though. If they are worth pick 10 then they are worth pick 10. It's like saying you wouldn't take Rance in the top 10 because you can get defenders later and he wasn't a top ten pick.Yep Houli wasn't a 1st rounder.
If we had a midfield that held its own (seem to remember we are one of the worst clearance teams in the comp)we wouldn't be playing in our back half as much. We need to win more contests. Not sure Richards will help with this compared to the midfield options at 10. Also need to kick goals which is a bigger priority (not sure there are great options though).
