Been trying to work out who SOS will take at pick 10.
I'm taking the unconventional approach.
Purchased a "police scanner" and am spending evenings actively monitoring police communications regarding booze buses etc - will let you know as soon as I hear.....

Would love to pull another CCurnow out of the hat, here at #10.
Other than Rayner, I don't think there's another 'unusual' talent available.

Hunter Clark for me also. Feel this guy could become a best 3-5 player from this draft......Just a feeling.

I'm far from an expert - but I love the way Hunter Clarke plays - has a Rory Sloane odour about him.

Hard nut with great skills - should I fly to Sydney and take him out for a few quiet ones??????

Is this what we've come to in recent days?:)
No such things as experts, as their as prone to drinking their own bath-water as much as anyone else.

I appreciate your opinion and yes......the more Rory Sloanes and Zach Merretts, the better.

When I said "take him out for a few quiet ones" - I wasn't thinking bath water.....

Dropped out of school at the end of last year.

Virtually been a full time footballer this year.

Does he have as much development in him as the guys that been at school all year and played school footy as well?

Also seen a few 'experts' say he may be more a small forward at AFL level and not a midfielder.

The other thing is, not sure what to make of the fact he dropped out? Depends on the reason why...but to not even finish a high school education is pretty strange in this day and age. Probably just wanted to focus on footy but i know Bolts has talked about wanting players to invest in things outside footy.

What is the issue with Stephenson's heart?
It's not been revealed publicly, so at this stage it could be something that needs a corrective operation in the pre-season, all the way through to something that needs medication that may affect his playing output. I doubt the clubs and the AFL would be sitting on it if it affected his career prospects beyond that.

Like Josh Toy?

Could be fixable/unhindering, unless it's a complete heart block where one cannot adequately raise their heart rate (like Toy).
Certainly can't comment on Stephenson because i don't know the specifics. Can say that in my experience raising the heart rate has never been an issue, regardless of the training load. More so the opposite, occasionally when relaxing or trying to sleep.

The issue with his heart is a non issue, doesn't affect him. Has it under control and played with it to date.

Whats N. Murphy's tank like? I wouldnt be opposed to picking him at 10 should the draft not fall our way. Looks so clean and still so much development left with him. If he has a tank could see him as a tall wingman, possible midfielder

Combine test results: 20m Sprint (secs) 3.16 | Agility (secs) 8.85 | Yo-Yo Test (level)21.3

Edited Poor sprint, solid tank

No need mate, haven’t you heard Stephenson has a heart condition?

I don’t agree with you there, as he didn’t know about any issue until last month, so he may be fortunate not to have had a potential Fabrice Muamba type incident (Muamba played until he was 24 and said he had no signs of a heart condition until he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest on the pitch)

I've only seem him play once. Nice looking size and skills. Didn't get it much. But he played in defence. And as far as I know, that's where he's played all year. He could become the next gun midfielder. But chances are, if he hasn't been playing midfield, he's unlikely to become one in the future. Can't see SOS/Brodie taking that kind of risk.

I'm sure we've been talking to him about the possibility of picking him up. Just like I'm sure we've been speaking to a number of other potential draftees. It doesn't really mean all that much. It's about due diligence. And not making it too obvious to the other clubs who you're most interested in (unlike under the previous recruiting regime).

I agree and don’t see why we would gamble at 10 on somebody who may be able to play in the midfield, when we know for sure there will be guys who can play midfield at 10. It’s the sort of choice that you would be ok making at 30, but not at 10.

Fair enough. I'm only relaying what I heard from someone from the eastern rangers.

Higgins is more professional with a better work ethic than other kids so he has less scope for improvement.

Is this argument similar to the man child one, where because a kid is bigger and stronger than other kids, he has less scope for improvement.

Both these arguments can be very flawed. Holding a kids determination, work ethic and professionalism against him is an interesting twist. Personally l think it will hold Higgins in really good shape for AFL.

Ps. Higgins isn’t my first option for pick 10 but ld be surprised if he let any club down when taken around that mark.

Just get me Hunter Clark at this Pick please SOS....think it’s going to need some divine intervention though.

I wish they were doing the reverse top 10 this year. I’m comfortable with whomever we pick at 3, however, hearts in the mouth when it comes to this pick.

Anybody but Fogarty or LOB.

Would take all of Constable, Murphy, Richard, Clark, Bonar, Stephenson, and Coffield ahead of them.

Would even take Higgins over either of them.

Have to admit, links to both those players have got me worried. Though a part of me still think SOS wouldn't do it.

Top few in the 2kms so likely to have better endurance than his peers at this stage.

Is there any reason Nathan Murphy isn't in the picture?

Another who has bolted up the rankings and is equally capable as a medium forward as he is a rebounding defender.

Big ceiling IMO
Has to get through Pies, Saints and Dogs to get to us. Each of those clubs could do with Murphy too. Would love it if he made it to us and we took him. Hopefully we go one of Dow or Cerra at #3 too ...
