Apparently according to Bishop the Dogs have shown some interest in Callum Porter.
I know his brother and worked with him while he was training with Casey this year.
Already got a contract with Frankston, Sandy, Gippsland if he doesn't get drafted.

Lightly framed midfielder that can be used at the half forward. runs for days

Elite as in work rate or elite as in always second to the ball. For
memory Lachlan Fogarty's brother played for Footscray and was
not ever going to compete in the Stawell gift unless it was in the
mile.
Tackling should never, ever be attributed to a player being second to the ball. Fogarty is good enough that he doesn't deserve to have that used as a speculative weakness of his. It is 100% a case of him having exceptional work rate and the mindset to be always looking to disrupt the ball in the oppositions hands.

Never seen him play Gollo, but i have watched his brother play for
Footscray and he was a slow trier, how does he compare to his
brother ?

Looks a bit like Elliot Yeo to me from very brief watching of him. Tall flanker with long arms and very good overhead, long penetrating kick.
Brisbane Yeo or West Coast Yeo? :D

Fogarty's movement is a strength of his, very good laterally and has strong straight line speed and acceleration. Assists his ability to apply pressure on the ball and helps him move easily around the contest to win hard ball. I wouldn't consider him to be a slow trier at all. Very clean ball use, goal sense is another big tick.

Thanks for all the updates folks. Here's the updated table (saves you having to page back).
I'd put it in its own thread but we've already got a squillion draft threads.

Interest in Porter and Fogarty - I guess we can put a line through anyone who isn't an elite tackler with our selection.

FWIW on Porter: http://websites.sportstg.com/team_i...97864300&client=1-3020-111700-437836-25836205

Has a 14, a 13 and a 12 tackle game if I'm reading that correctly.
He had one game where his stat line read:
23 kicks (16 effective), 13 handballs (8 effective), 10 marks (4 contested), 12 tackles, 6 free kicks and 4.1. It was massive and really put him on the map as a bloke with really good all-round capacity and an impressive ceiling. While the rest of his form during the season hasn't quite been to this standard, it has been strong and consistent and he looms as a bloke with the capacity to move into a role at an AFL club in any position with his range of skills and defensive presence.

Out of interest, who are some other players in the class who are notable for their tackle pressure?

Inconsistent production is another weakness of Rayner's. Doesn't cope at all well with targeted defensive pressure. Another reason for his underwhelming school footy form.

On an unrelated note, the work AFL Draft Central have been doing in creating a draft encyclopedia of sorts is thoroughly impressive. It must be seriously hard trying to generate content around these draftees with inconsistent television air-time, a limited range of statistics and the lack of exposure they get due to most being in a year 12 environment. They've really upped their game this year with the draft pool feature and I can imagine it being really useful to club supporters who don't have a strong idea of the actual draftees their club has taken. If they keep improving and adding useful features at this rate they are going to become a really worthwhile franchise.

I don't like that comparison myself. Someone mentioned Mundy, I think that's a better comparison.

Yeo is more of a natural athlete, he has a much bigger leap and is very quick. Featured heavily in combine testing. Where as Murphy is more of a natural footballer, reads it quicker then most and is quick to make a decision while generally taking the right option. He's not really one to run the ball or take a high leaping intercept mark like Yeo. I think Yeo makes some poor decisions as well and isn't overly smart around congestion (part of the reason why he struggled as a midfielder).

The thing that really stands out with Murphy is he doesn't really need much time to be damaging with it and I think he is quite a smart player in tight spaces. Hard to see it on the highlights video, but that's what I've seen from watching him live. That's why I think there's definite potential for him to move into the midfield, he has good vision, agility and endurance as well. The only question mark for me is, will he be able to stand up to the physical side of things in the midfield?

Sam Hayes has a big weakness with his endurance, came second last in the 2km time trial at 8m 22s. Had a poor yoyo test result too, apparently.

I also wouldn't consider Brander's kicking a strength of his. He has very good kicking penetration but his All-Stars game was massively underwhelming to me - seemed to be completely inconsistent with his short kicking, missed some really rudimentary targets.

Yeah Hayes' endurance is already on the table. Just adding a few things to it.

On Brander, I don't mind if dogwatch leaves his kicking off the list. It's not what I'd call elite or anything. I think generally he's a pretty good kick for a big guy though.

I see his floor as playing a Lin Jong type role where he doesn't develop real consistency and his skills don't take off but at the same stage his skills don't look as bad. Either way I wouldn't mind another player like that on our list, so long as we take a player with good skills at 16.

Just reading inside footy profiles. Bonar's talent manager describes him as an elite kick and decision maker. I think that might be going a little too far, but on what I've seen his kicking looked more then reasonable and he got plenty of penetration on it. I don't see it as a weakness at all.

I meant in the way in which he marks the ball. He actually has a good leap and a really long wingspan so he is very strong overhead for his size.

I haven't seen the same midfield game as Mundy with him.

I don't really like player comparisons anyway. Each player is unique.
