I would be very happy to take Bonar with #17 - Extremely happy,This kids upside is just as high as Patracca,Bont,Cripps,
The kid is an athletic beast that knows how to play football - 100% Star quality
If we had #9/#10 he is still the player i would take.

Not a massive fan of Hayes now tbh, Just feel the Ruck is a very over rated position in todays football and teams are now no longer so reliant on tap outs and are looking for Average rucks just to get the job done unless you have an Elite Ruckman - Happy to Rookie list a player like Joel Amartey or Scott Jones from east Perth

was interesting in the grand final - can't remember exactly who said this, but apparently when griggs gave nank a chop-out in the ruck, we broke even in the clearances (or maybe even won them, correct me if i'm wrong though) despite jacobs having an obvious height advantage.

that's only one example, but i reckon you might be right - the game is getting smaller and faster, and teams seem to be looking at ways to play an undersized ruckman in order to keep up with the frenetic pace of the modern game.

as you say, there's still a place in the game for talented rucks, so i wouldn't be disappointed if we took hayes with one of our picks. his endurance put me off initally, but having thought about it, he could be a steal if developed well - looks to be very skillful. hopefully, though, if we do take him it's because he was best available, and not just because he's a ruck. i'll back the recruiters in though, done a great job in recent years.

bonar at 17 would be great, but i reckon maybe someone else will pull the trigger earlier

What do we think the side's three biggest needs are? (and don't just say KPFs three times ya campaigners)

1. KPF
2. KPD
3. Hybrid Swingman KPF/KPD/R

:P

I think Bonar will be a bolter.

I think if we get Balta, you'll get more of a boner though.;)

And what do we think of knightmare's assessment of club needs? (In order: Key forward, outside pace and skill and general defenders)

KPF - obvious for when Jack goes

Outside pace and skill - Yes, but more in the line of Rioli that does the hard stuff as well. It's our game and the more the merrier

General defender - wtf is one of those? Like Flossy? Not a KPF, but a defender. yeah, nah. We have good defenders and they're not old. If Rance leaves for other things we are in trouble. But we won't be able to replace on the best KPDs of all time quickly.

I'd say inside/outside mid that can play forward would be good. Tough run all day guy to replace Grigg (must be able to be a premiership ruck as well :p)
