I'm aware that all teams have expectations but this season coming up seems the most distorted for us. For the fans, yes the fans, I'm sure the club have ideas and we all know the media have their predictions along with every other opposition supporter.....

But for us, without the rose tinted glasses, what do you think?

I agree. I think there is way too much talent to be bottom 6, but probably lacking to challenge the top end.

Best result would be a top 10 pick, Geelong fail, Dimma is gone, Balme puts more of a stamp on the place..and we take 2018 by the horns.

Nope. I think we can do some damage in the 8 this time around because we have a better midfield + midfield depth. A problem may arise with our KPP stocks, but of course, I am hoping that Riewoldt and Rance show the durability they showed throughout their career.

Todd Elton has a breakout year and Carlton offer him $600k a year for 4 years as a RFA and we dont match

No, I don't think they have a good list per se. I just think they took a lot of risks. Either it could pay of next year through making finals or I expect them to crash in a heap. A bit early to tell for me.

I actually do think Richmond is gathering a good list though.

If you are a student of form...
I feel with most others on here that there has been enough renewal that we can turn the formguide on it's head, but its the goals-for that remains an issue. We couldn't score, complete breakdown. We have replaced TV with crumbers up forward, so we are essentially relying on improved midfield/clearances to get us to the magic 100 points per game...I'm worried.

Yeah, I don't want to argue either. This is what I currently think though. I may end up completely wrong and you right as I am no expert in this. It is just that I think our list prospect looks quite alright. Could backfire on me though as 1. it is Richmond and 2. I am making the assumption that some of our recruits through drafting/trading are not injured and have an immediate impact. I guess we'll have a better idea once the preseason games are played out and the season is about to start.

Honest should not equal a pessimistic view though mate to be not considered valuable or irrelevant due to rose coloured glasses.

My view we have a good enough list to make the 8. Anything less is a faliure. We lose another final,again a faliure. If we are coached to play our natural game and win a final its a pass.

A return to our 2012/2013 Game Plan or at least something similar would be a good start. 11-9th(God Forbid) finish at the lowest.
However if we continue with the previous two/three seasons game plan, don't make finals or lose another Elimination Final that would be a fail and Dimma should be sent to the Guillotine.

Expectations? What are those? I pissed them off at the end of 2016, too heartbreaking.

Right now I have no expectations, of course if we win the first three or four rounds next year, that'll change.

What I hope for is a top 8 finish with the list hitting finals in form and with momentum to make a charge towards a drought breaking premiership.

What I expect is we'll be mid table, maybe sneak into the finals. I expect a more attacking game plan with a strong focus on winning contested footy. When we don't have the ball we are a hard tackling defensively accountable team that makes it hard for the opposition to get easy possessions and goals. This will happen with an overhaul of the 22, with a few younger kids being given more opportunities as we build towards being a serious contender in 2018.

Like a few others, I’d say there are hopes and then there are expectations. Both are honest.

I’m hoping for a flag again for 2017. I took last season off, emotionally speaking - #eco. I still went to home games, but I just couldn’t get engaged after watching Jarhead Waite beat us in the 2015 EF. It hurt too much. So 2016, I wasn’t hoping for anything other than beating Carlton.

What I expect in 2017:
1. We go into the bye on ~4 wins,
2. Hardwick is sacked,
3. Caracella takes the reins and insist that we tackle AND kick the ball forwards,
4. We find some winning form that has us squeak into the finals on 13 wins.

Ok, maybe I slipped back into hopes rather than expectations by #3.
