2017 Monte Carlo Masters

Thread for the first clay Masters 1000 event this season in beautiful Monte Carlo. Has started witha couple of matches last night but the main stuff starts tonight. Not a mandatory so not everyone is here (including the likes of Federer, Raonic, Nishikori & Kyrgios) but still some interesting storylines with Murray, Djokovic and Nadal the big stars.

Tomic is the only Aussie player and he will lose in a hour to Schwartman first up on Court 2 tonight.

Tomic almost got a set, lost 6-1, 7-6. Looked awful as usual.

Multi crisis averted.

Bernie was a break up in the second set. He had 5-4 and 30-0 on his serve and then a set point at 40-30 but normal service resumed from there.

Edit basilashvili got some kind of foot injury and ended up being broken a couple of times and bautista agut wins 7-5 in the 3rd to make the 2nd round for 5th straight year at monte carlo

Understandable though. 2nd match back from a long layoff. Interestingly enough, Djokovic lost at the same stage in Monte Carlo last year before eventually going on to claim the RG title.

I more meant the collapse in the final set, being up 4-0 up, than the loss itself.
