He's running nicely at training and apparently looks very fit.

Understandably, they'll probably be conservative with his program, so he might play some twos in the second half of the year. I doubt he'll be risked at senior level this season but that's just a guess- they haven't made any public predictions that in aware of.

Nice article. I think one thing we can be sure of is that Matho will always work on his game. It is pretty instructive that a second year player is so frank about what he needs to work on.

He just seems like that type of guy. Even if he doesnt really improve much more and becomes just a solid B player, you know you will get every little bit out of him.

Mathieson just continues to impress me. Goes out of his way to do those extra yards and showing some real leadership is great to see in a young player. Having guys like him and Harris gives me a lot of faith in the club going forward

Above all else, I'm interested to see how Lester goes as captain performance wise - maybe Fagan is testing to see if what Lester needs is more responsibility?

Maybe, but Lester is one who for a few years now has impressed in the pre-season, and even once carried it through to the early rounds of the season proper, but has reverted back to normal thereafter...

He's reputedly a very professional player... One of those players who justifies that you don't have to be super-talented to make it (not saying he's made it, and not saying he's not talented... just that, for a professional player, his professionalism makes up for some deficiencies in his game). Doesn't surprise me that he's impressed in the pre-season.

Yeah certainly sounds like it would be limited minutes. Still, better than nothing
