Do any of our draft watchers know if any of the Champs games are being televised or streamed?

The last five games are on Fox Footy. Doesn't seem like the first five will be broadcast or streamed.

West Coast fans will keep a close eye on Swan Districts youngster Jarrod Cameron, the brother of Brisbane star Charlie.

The Eagles have first dibs on the Cameron, who has been working closely with NGA coach Drew Petrie.

Due to his last-minute inclusion in WA's squad this week, Cameron won't be picked to face South Australia at Alberton Oval on Sunday.

These NGAs are an absolute joke, does anybody think that Charlie's brother was ever not going to play footy if it wasn't for the NGAs?

Give them a break, how would Chris Johnson's son ever found AFL without it?

Had a quick look at our previous draft and rookie drafts back to 2008.

2017: 6 drafted, 6 still on list, 2 debuts, 17 games played for lions
2016: 9 drafted, 9 still on list, 7 debuts, 113 games played for lions
2015: 7 drafted, 4 still on list, 7 debuts, 128 games played for lions
2014: 10 drafted, 2 still on list, 7 debuts, 116 games played for lions
2013: 10 drafted, 6 still on list, 9 debuts, 412 games played for lions
2012: 6 drafted, 2 still on list, 5 debuts, 190 games played for lions
2011: 9 drafted, 0 still on list, 7 debuts, 129 games played for lions
2010: 8 drafted, 2 still on list, 6 debuts, 282 games played for lions
2009: 12 drafted, 0 still on list, 10 debuts, 442 games played for lions
2008: 11 drafted, 1 still on list, 5 debuts, 532 games played for lions

Rookie drafts can throw the numbers as sometimes players who have been on the main list get rookied.

Our best year at the moment is 2013 for longevity. All the players form 2009 and 2008 have left except for Rich.

Interesting that.

2013 was an interesting draft. Aish, McStay, Gardiner, Taylor, Cutler, Robertson. It's Aish, and then a bunch of second rounders, which actually turned out pretty well. None of them really stars, but a lot of solid workmen there.

The other standout to me is 2016. 113 games played in just a year and a bit. Already almost caught up to 2014 and 2015, though they're almost double or triple the tenure. Clug, Berry and Witho... Still hoping for the best with Cox. Hasn't really shown a lot at the top level yet, but still got plenty of time.

Does Tom Berry still support the Lions?

Is this question based on the photo of the brothers when they were young kids?

The interview where both brothers intimated the teams which they followed.

You mean people don't just reply to the family members with "we didn't pay attention to him because he's shit"?

That'd be one of the perks of the job for me, but then I'm an arseh*le. :D

Most accurate bit of analysis in this thread

One interesting thread on the draft and trade board is the 2018 Nominal Draft Order thread. The creator also links to a final ladder predictor. Where it has the Lions finishing 15th. Ahead of Carlton (18th), St Kilda (17th), and Gold Coast (16th).

If Gold Coast lose Lynch as seems likely, we'll get pushed back another pick. We can almost guarantee Sam Walsh will be off the board. It's interesting reading what fans from Carlton, St Kilda and Gold Coast see as their teams needs. All talk about needing inside mids, and if GC lose Lynch, they're obviously going to need a KPF as well.

Yeah finishing above Gold Coast will probably cost us. Although that will mean we have won some more games! Thats a happy thought :) We might miss Walsh, but there are also big wraps on half a dozen midfielders.
Yep, plenty of top line mids will be available in the first dozen or so picks, particularly with a few highly rated talls likely to go early.

And we may be able to lure Walsh to Brisbane in a couple of years, if he's keen to play for us and is sick of playing for the Saints or GC ;)

Bailey Smith may still be around at pick 4/5. There's also the highly rated Curtis Taylor, Rayner's pal

Looking at the draft predictor, which teams do you see drafting a tall early?
Hard to say, but the wraps on Lukosius are huge so I'm confident he goes very early, the King twins will not drop below around the 7-10 mark you would think.

Maybe the Suns if Tom Lynch departs or the Saints if they decide McCartin is not going to make it.

If Carlton finish with pick 1 and Gold Coast picks 3 and 4, it will be interesting to see if the Suns try and trade up to try and get Lukosius. Picks 1 for picks 3+4. Carlton would need to top that up but it would be interesting to see if it is pursued.

FWIW, I reckon the Suns midfield will be quite good in a couple of years time. Swallow, Miller, Lyons, Weller, Brodie, Bowes, Fiorini, Ainsworth with Martin and Ah Chee rotating through. That’s a pretty good mix of guys who are already at the required level plus some talented youngsters. Every club wants to add to their midfield but they are one club who could probably afford to give up two higher draft selections to secure the best player in the draft.

I really like Jackson Hately as well.
We simply do not have a genuine contested mid outside of Berry.

At stoppages and contested possessions we are outnumbered over the ball and players waiting outside the contest to move the ball.

Jackson Hately looking more and more like a genuine need.

Reports suggest he's putting on a clinic in the SA v WA game.
