Wouldn’t pick 15 get pushed back at least 4 spots to 19 under your suggestion?

3 to suns and Carlton?
One spot if Gold Coast receive pick 3 as compensation for losing Lynch.

If GC and Carlton receive priority picks, depends where they slot in. End of first round obviously won't effect pick 15, obviously beginning or first round or before the finalists push back all picks after them.

If May goes, that will be a trade, so that won't push any picks back.

Then it comes down to where academy and father son bids come in. Bids will push picks back, but don't really effect which players are available in the open pool.

Yeah, nailed it.

Had a listen to Road to the Draft this evening. Gold Coasts head of recruiting/scouting was on. One little tidbit he dropped was that Ainsworth's family moved to the Gold Coast. Pretty invested family it seems.
Thats great .... wont be too big a move up the highway to the Gabba for them shortly when ainsworth wants out.

I love East Gippsland, but it doesn't take much to encourage people to move away from Morwell.

Yeah, wouldn't take much...Hardly any work down there since they decommissioned the old brown coal-fuelled thermal power stations Energy Brix Australia (Morwell Power Station) & the Hazelwood Power Station as well as the scaling back of the Maryvale Paper Mills

At work today.

Anyone watching the TAC cup final? Reports from Twitter is that a couple of the under age kids from both teams are killing it.

There hasn’t been a lot public hype about next years draft crop, but it looks like another deep crop of mids next year.

Good to see Dandenong winning by a goal... looks like Oakleigh came hard at the end... looking forward to watching this one.

Callum Twomey's first (previously he has posted power rankings) phantom, he's saying that the top 3 are a lock-
https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/09/23/cal-twomeys-september-phantom-draft/

1- Sam Walsh (Blues).
2- Jack Lukosius (Suns).
3- Max king (Saints).
4- Izak Rankine (Lions).
5- Ben King (Dockers.
6- Bailey Smith (Bulldogs).
7- Connor Rozee (Crows).
8- Nick Blakey (Swans).
9- Jye Caldwell (Bombers).
10- Tarryn Thomas (Kangaroos).

Surely Thomas doesn't get a bid that early and North wouldn't voluntarily take him there. Not sure if they've been actively hiding him, but his year has been pretty flat compared to last year.

If the top 3 is fairly locked in the interest comes for who the Suns take if/when they get pick 3
There's a bit of talk around the place that they'll go Connor Rozee although IMO they'll go the best available mid which would be Bailey Smith or Izak Rankine. Leaving us with whoever is left out of those 2 if the Saints take Max King who Twomey says is a lock to them.

Twomey is usually pretty good with his phantoms/info/rumors, he speaks to all the club recruiters regularly.

Seems a bit of a reach for Rozee but his play late in the season sounds good. Really if we do keep pick 5 then there is still great talent that suits us then

No surprises in the top three. King has been recovering from ACL at Saints facilities. Suns will take Rankine with there Tom Lynch pick, he won’t be there at 5 for us (assuming we haven’t traded it, but confident we will).

Suns now looking at a massive rebuild.

One or both of their early picks (2 and 3) might go to Adelaide/Port for their 1st rounders (possibly plus players), as both SA teams are very keen on Lukosius/Rankine/Rozee, so getting a number of 1st rounders and a few mature players Vs say 2 high end pick/players with possible retention issues is one of the optiions they are seriously weighing up....

If Saint Kilda take King which would hopefully leave us Smith, then l almost hope we leave Neale for this year and grab him free next year.

Way too risky. If Neale requests a trade you get it done.

At what point does it cost too much that you say, nah we will wait. pick 4/5 and our 2nd rounder l would do. If they ask for 2 1st rounders l would wait a year

I think it’s been said before give up on Neale after he requests a trade and potentially end up with a Schache or Aish as the first pick and a Karnezis for the second in the early 20’s? I’d take Neale everyday and twice in Sunday’s.

I struggle with these types of comments. I find it curious that some can be so negative with the draft when history has showed that it is the main function of getting talent into your list. Is every pick going to come off? Absolutely not but that is the science behind it and also having the correct people making the decisions. We get Neale, we get him, but is he worth 2 firsts? No. Would I be ok with a first and second yes. However if for some reason we don't land Neale I back our recruiters in to identify the correct draftees to bring into our club.

As opposed to the negativity surrounding getting a high quality proven A grade performer that Neale is to our club to fill the exact deficiency we have in exchange for a lottery draft ticket??

Hawthorn and Sydney are very good examples of the value in trading draft picks for proven A grade talent, look where they are and then have a look where we are.

I’d happily trade 5 and 22 for Neale and yes if that isn’t enough I’d go to the draft. But the priority needs to be getting in A grade talent that want to come here.

Hawthorn and Sydney aren’t typically trading a top 5 draft pick in their trades for players.

There’s no negativity surrounding the Neale trade. At least not from Lions fans.

There’s just a discussion about the opportunity cost of trading for Neale.

There’s no guarantee that Neale slots in to the Brisbane midfield and produces to the same level he has at Fremantle.

There’s a significantly higher likelihood that he does and that he produces far superior contribution then that of an untried draft pick.
