I listened to an interview with Sam and he said, whoever drafts him, he will repay the faith and he won’t be leaving. He was quite emphatic too.
You can never say never!

I thought it started in the morning
I'm going off what the club sent me today:

"The remaining rounds of the NAB AFL Draft will be completed from 12pm on Friday 23 November – broadcast LIVE on both Fox Footy and afl.com.au (for those with AFL Live Pass). "

My guess is it’s purely from what he’s hearing from club land.

Sometimes I think people forget Twomey is a reporter, not a talent evaluator.

When you have 4 teams (Gold Coast, Adelaide, Port and GWS) with 15 of the first 30 picks, you can almost be guaranteed that they’ll be linked to every player in the top 30.

Plus Twomey has to keep people on the hook for his Phantom draft next week.
I didnt forget he was a reporter and he has very close ties with the likes of sheahan just thought article was a waste of time but didn't know his mock draft was next week so agree with you he did it for lead up to that but we'll just ignore it now anyway he's just a reporter

Unless the bid is not matched in which case the bidder takes that player and not some other kid we might have in mind.
Yep and again in the case of pies for eg if they don't match they'll have 3 picks in front of us in round 3 alot of ways to skin a cat in our crazy system. Lets hope no bids on McFadyen inside 30.

Yep looks like they changed it, tvguide has it starting at 12. The original AFL announcement had it starting at 9:30am on the Friday

Nope, Pies only have 2 picks in front of us, 41 and 44. You might mean North who have 5 picks before us in round 3: 42, 47, 48,49,55. Swans the other one: 26,33,38,39,40. Early bids on Swans and North academy, father/sons are great for us.

Oddly it is our 1st pick that I have the least confidence in. Also, amazing how you can not want your club to draft someone even though you've never seen them play! Duursma and butters in particular don't inspire me but could be guns for all I know. Mclennan or valente sound good though

If we can pick up any combination of Berry, McFadyen, English, McHenry or Smith then the mid-draft picks will be all good.

What are your reasons for wanting those guys but not Duursma or Butters?

Butters has pretty high raps from almost every draft watcher. Currently light weight, but has almost elite pace, is evasive, good kick and makes good decisions. Only concern is low contested rate.

Duursma is probably a lesser version of Bailey Smith. He’s good inside and out, not as inside as Smith, so he’s a little more like Walsh in that respect, and can play as a small/medium defender. Has good pace and stamina.

How much of the ball did Butters get this year? Looks like an interesting prospect who could play a few different roles.

Both Dutch names. I know Bootsma means boatman, not sure about Duursma. Maybe doorman?

Tried to look it up on google - three different sites game me a meaning of 'unknown' so not all that helpful really!

Low contested ball is not a good sign. From that would prefer Duursma -and being a Lions fan and Vic country doesn't hurt.

Why do you think rich will need replacing at the end of next year? He is currently the 4th ranked sm/med defender in the comp (see afl players stats on afl site) and still has a few good years left in him. He certainly has the ability to become that back 6 general when hodge finishes playing and hopefully takes up a coaching role. Also, why do you think andrews, gardiner, witherden arent good enough to be in a flag winning back 6?
I didnt say that andrews gardiner and witherden arent good enough to win a flag... i said our current back 6... the nucleus is gardiner witherden andrews and now perhaps adams. We need to add speed and more adaptability off hb. Daniel Rich is not a top 5 half back in the comp i dont care what the stats say. He misses tackles, zones off when he shouldnt, doesnt have defensive presence and os slow. Rich's stats r up because he gets fed the ball as our user off halfback. He is not a genuine half back and i cant understand why they have persisted with using him there when he could be a lot more dangerous up the ground. And Hodge is nearly done. This is his last year coming. Make no mistake Hodge was our 2nd best defender this year and in our top 5 or 6 players for the year. Hes is a gun but the plan is to retire at seasons end and unless we find a really good addition with speed off half back we r going to struggle in 2020 in that position.

Hodge had a fairly good year but disagree he was our 2nd best defender Andrews Gardiner and witherden way better than him you spoke of rich zoning off well hodge in the first half of the season in particular was to worried about coaching his teammates and forgetting to pick up his direct opponent.Do agree the hard running hb type does need addressing

Would anyone like to see us upgrade pick 18 with say the second rounder we got from Gc next year and would it even be worth it ?
The 5 list spots makes it interesting and instead of using the pick in the 70's I would rather see us acquire another in the mid teens to mid 20's range. Adelaide has four picks in that region and if they don't use them to move up I wonder if there is an opportunity to acquire one of them in the range states earlier. It would require Collingwood's 2019 first rounder or GC's 2019 second rounder.
