I just can’t see the Suns passing on Lukosius at 2. Cameron has said at a recent members night we have a hole in our fwd line with Lynch leaving, but will fill that hole in the national draft. He also said afterwards after that we are very keen on Lukosius.

With the Blues reportedly firming on Walsh at 1, we would be bat sh!t crazy not to take Lukosius at 2 with all the hype surrounding him.

But if we do take pick 3 for Lynch, I could possibly see that pick being obtainable for an “overs” deal, which would secure you Rankine if you value him that highly?
Rankine isn't worth 3. Someone would be crazy to take a small forward at 3, especially one who had been open about his interest to stay with family.

You wouldn't want King? I know the idea that you'll look to take both brothers mostly exists on other boards, but I think being strategic around drafting (like Brisbane has been) is sensible.

I think you need to know more about priority access regarding State league players rule first before gaving up third Round pick ( 38 and 41) , last year somebody like Tim Kelly , Liam Ryan and Flitsch all get pick up in Top 40 in open Draft 2017 . Yomen is out of contract , if he refused to sign contract extension , Carlton , GC ,sydney could sign him up in pre season Draft without giving up anything apart from lIst spot .
No one ever goes in the PSD.

Ellis Yolmen will either stay or say where he wants to go, and we'll trade him to that club, probably for a third.

Rankine is a small forward, but he's the best small forward since ???

I'm pretty sure he's worth more than your highest pick ATM

People who say pick up the King brothers don't really do the due diligence on what the list needs are for the Suns. We have adequate talls but no A grade mids or genuine small/medium forwards.

I only listed to the first 5 mins of the Barlow interview.

I feel for Barlow as he was actively pursued by Rocket, Ashcroft and Clayton and 12 months later they are all out the door, and the people who replaced them have no affinity or responsibility for that decision.

I recall Clarkson doing something similar with Nick Holland when he first arrived. Although it sounds like Clarko was a bit more upfront and told him his career was over at their first meeting.

Not so concerned with how Barlow was treated as he is not a long time servant or the future of the club. Just don't want this communication issue to have an affect on blokes like Scrim or May who are part of our future.

I agree with you. Two years is a long time in this game though. Especially in the last 2-3 years of your games lifespan. 3 years ago when he was at his peak, who wouldn’t have looked at him. Three years on, 2 broken legs, eyes not opening, jaw breaking, one of the youngest teams on the ground, seniors walking out the door, new coach and game plan? Where would you find time for an old Injured leader? If you have a few already onboard that the boys get on with, how do you keep him when emotions are taken out of the equation.

To be honest, if Andrew Swallow wanted to coach my NEAFL team I would offer him the place before Barlow. I hate saying it but I would. I’m sure it would have been hard. Last day of the season would be incredibly hard for all. But it must be in the interest of the club and for a higher plan which we are not privy to and we must trust it for now.

Nothing against Barlow , if Dew don't like him so be it , Dew will need to produce improvement next year with the players he have .
Lemmann , Shoenfield ,Nutting , Sheer ,Scrimshaw will need to step up next year without Barlow in NEAFL to break into best 22.

If Lukosius is available, you don’t pass him up. The only chance for you to get him this draft is pick 1. And I feel that’s a near impossible task.

Rankine will be drafted pick 3-5 easily. He can also play in midfield. Besides pick 2 (Walsh/Lukosius) if Suns have pick 3 I would go with Smith who reminds me Dangerfield with his breakaway speed and would fit beautifully into Suns midfield.

I would stay away from King brothers especially Max. Just for those interested, this is what Dr Feller has to say about ACL and young players.

“If you are under 20 when you have your first reconstruction, your risk [of another] goes up. If you are under 18 it really goes up that you will have another injury to the same knee, or the other knee,” Feller said.

“If you are a [young] male you have got a really high risk of further ACL injury.

I'm so sick of blaming coaches. Keep Dew long term. Coaches develop like players.

It's these players that make shit impossibly difficult because they don't understand what success looks like and that it comes with compromise.

One question did Yolmen came to Collective mind Gold coast Camp , why would Yolmen ( Out of rookie contract) want to help Adelaide get a draft pick if he is so unhappy with their collaboration with Collective mind . Adelaide can't really do anything if he refused to sign his rookie contract extension.

Look, I'm starting to think you're right.

I think the Crows get a middraft PP and a second for McGovern and we just roll with the five top 25 picks. IF we can trade 7 to get us to four or five, we probably do that for Rankine. But Lukosius seems impossible.

That was a year ago. He's played the whole year since then, winning games with his mates. He knows he's depth with us but could get more opportunities elsewhere.

Don't get overexcited by Collective Minds. There's almost zero actual substance to that. The indigenous players were upset with the use of a message stick that didn't belong to the nation who's lands they were on, but that's not something you still hold a grudge over a year later and demand a trade.

Would you guys trade your WCE pick for our first next year?

Not only has departing assistant coach Josh Francou, who reportedly put his concerns regarding the camp in writing to his superiors, remained deeply unimpressed by what took place, but a lengthy report was penned by Adelaide’s chief medical officer Dr Marc Cesana.

It’s a good question Kristof, there would be a number of considerations

Strength of the draft
List needs
Academy prospects

Personally I would entertain it if we don’t already have someone in mind

Guys anyone to look out for at Broadbeach today
?
May there be a possible sighting of someone who wouldn't normally grace the gold coast but might be making more regular appearances next year?

Depends on where the WC lands. Could still come in at #14 if the Eagles go out in straight sets, however, with priority picks and compo picks and WC winning the lot the pick could blow out past #21. Betting against the Crows coming top 5 is probably about even odds given you guys have 12 home games and usually get a cushy draw. I think we have to suck it up and make the best of a crappy deal.

I don't know how the Suns work but surely Dew would have an afternoon set aside where he sits down individually with each member of the playing list to keep the lines of communication open.
That's not Mick's problem- that's Stuey's
And the smoke signals suggest there were similar issues with Brodie early doors and Scrimshaw
It's interesting because (although I might be reading too much into it) I thought the differentiation between say Rocket and Dew was the modern coach communication chestnut
Dew in his interview with Brad Sewell says himself he almost throws up at the thought of telling players they arent playing...this indicates how Barlow was being treated as well as others...Barlow indeed was awesome with the young lads, worked extremely hard and couldnt have done more to impress. I hope he gets another shot at it and I trust Dewie learns from it.

Hope something gets announced tonight at the b&f so all this s*** can stop.
We can't afford to keep May on next year if he doesn't re-sign it will derail our season again

A lot of speculations from people. Barlow did sound disgruntled and disappointed as he is entitled to be but probably he should have a longer break before talking to media. Just last Dec he had the highest praise for GC, Dew and young leaders. Barlow said by himself that he had robust discussions with Dew and knew 6-7 months he does not fit into Dew's plan. That tells me that Dew did communicate to Barlow his situation. Again Barlow and Dew told on several occasions that Barlow is considered inside midfielder and is behind Miller, Swallow, Lyons and later Brodie. So where that "not open and not honest communications" does come from? Dew to be sick to tell players that they don't play - it shows he cares.

I feel that people mix Barlow as a person with Barlow as a player and coach's right to choose a team. In the end it's a coach who bears ultimate responsibility. Dew seems to me is building his foundations for long term success - pressure, contest, team first - while sorting out players who don't fit into his plan. Let's see what happens next year.

To be honest having Barlow in NEAFL benefited us more long-term than playing him in AFL. He did fantastic job with young players. I for sure will miss him. Lions should take him. They do need an inside midfielder and don't have slow ones like us.
