Rising star Mitch Maguire
Vs Sydney University ( Elimination final)
45 Disposal , 26 K , 19 H , 5 Mark , 10 tackle

That's not Mick's problem- that's Stuey's
And the smoke signals suggest there were similar issues with Brodie early doors and Scrimshaw
It's interesting because (although I might be reading too much into it) I thought the differentiation between say Rocket and Dew was the modern coach communication chestnut
Youre not reading too much into it as we heard Dew address it...thats an area he will surely improve on next year...hes had a lot on his plate. Some players will knock on his door regularly like Barlow and others feel to shy to do it but communication has to take place with all, no matter the personality. Sounds like Dew didnt want to deliver the hard news to Mick, probably because he worked so hard. Id like to think Dewie would change that in hindsight.
Hope something gets announced tonight at the b&f so all this s*** can stop.
We can't afford to keep May on next year if he doesn't re-sign it will derail our season again
Did Rischa make a slip of the tongue in his message today or will he captain next year?

Yeah. If we're serious about getting state league players and midfield depth in, this guy surely has to be on our radar. He's been a gun all year.

Are you talking about his re-signing video he did for the members/fans ?

All he said was I looked forward to continuing to lead the boys out for another season

"Looking forward to lead the boys". The message is on Suns website.
He is going to be on the rookie list, I highly doubt he will be captain off of there. Probably a leader in the change room, on the training field and on game day but I don't think he will be captain.

Listening to Brodie's interview after he got second opportunity this year, he worked hard with development coaches Hart and Malchevski on things he needed to improve. Pretty sure young players know exactly what they need to work on to crack best 22 and get regular feedback from development coaches, Dew.

Bring him in
Marion Pickett 3rd quarter vs West Perth
20 disposal 3 goal .

This year's Draft class is a very interesting one because there is no clear order of talent in respect to club needs, let alone what the final picking order will look like. Without putting any order to the list apart from a vague prediction of where they might fall, here's my present take on the talent.

Jack Lukosius is the standout AFL ready player in the Draft, with a resume of U18 dominance and SANFL senior experience. He has size, elite skills, pace and the potential to be a very good KPP. However, he may not be what Carlton is looking for given how much tall talent they are developing and their glaring need for more midfielders. On the other hand, the Suns are looking for precisely this kind of player to replace Tom Lynch. The Crows may look to trade up to get him, which depending on Melbourne's fortunes in the final (Adelaide's Lever pick) could be pick #7 and pick in the teens and a later pick in exchange for pick #1 or #2.

Sam Walsh emerged with the Larke Medal and is the best midfielder in the Draft. He is exactly what Carlton want and need, while the Suns could certainly use further midfield depth and the Saints would love to get their hands on him too. The Lions QClash win has probably cost them a shot at him, which may have broken the kid's heart because he is an avowed Lions fan.

Izak Rankine is an amazing talent with skills like Jason Akermanis. If you haven't seen him play, have a look at the highlights from Vic Metro VS South Australia. On talent, this kid should actually go number 1, but again it comes down to individual club needs and I don't see Carlton needing yet another small forward or small midfielder. The Suns will be looking at Rankine and potentially weighing up offers from the Crows and Power, but I wouldn't hesitate. I don't see him sliding past #3, especially if the Suns hold 2 of those picks. Saints and Lions probably looking at others anyway.

Ben King is the next Tom Lynch. He can clunk a mark, kick a goal and likes it so much he keeps doing it all day. He can also play in defence at an elite level, making him the Top 10 wildcard because of his versatility. He would be a good pickup for the Suns to replace Lynch, but only if Lukosius comes off the board first.

Max King is the ACL rehabber tipped to go high and I honestly don't know why because it is such a risk. He is doing his rehab at St Kilda, who could very well look to take that relationship to Draft Day with their high pick. Freo could also be in the market for a King brother given there are no WA kids available as high as #5.

Bailey Smith is the arrow up midfielder in this Draft and could go Top 5. He has a bit more size than Walsh and his game tape is impressive. Saints will look very hard at him as he and the King twins all come from Sandringham in Saints territory. Would look right at home in Suns colours should they somehow trade up into the Top 10 via Lynch or other means.

Nick Blakey will go to Sydney, but it will be interesting to see which club makes a bid on him. Could the Lions be willing to make a power play and force Sydney to move up and match their bid or does he fall to #10 where North Melbourne could do the same thing? Given it would cost neither jilted rival anything to do it, I can't see any reason why they wouldn't. The Lions might even end up getting him if Sydney find the price too high.

Connor Rozee is predicted to fall to the Crows at number #7 which is why I don't really buy into the hype that they would trade up for either Rankine or Lukosius when they can get an SA kid with huge upside. Port would be hoping he comes to them at #9. He's a lanky flanker who fits the profile of several Suns players, hence we don't want him at any price.

Tarryn Thomas is tied to North Melbourne and they will be hoping nobody bids on the classy midfielder before #10 so they can get him cheap. He's in the news for all the wrong reasons, but every talent scout in the AFL has seen that he's a Top 10 talent.

Isaac Quaynor is tied to Collingwood, who will also hope they don't have to match a high bid. The reason why another club could make a play at him is that he is the first small defender on the list and the Pies really don't have much Draft capital to match him of they want to get as many picks as they can later on.

Jye Caldwell is a top notch midfielder who had an injury interrrupted representative season that has cruelled his chances. Could go Top 10 or slide to the end of the 1st round depending on any bid matching pushing him further back. I expect he'll have interest from most of the Victorian clubs, but could be a good pickup for the Suns should he still be on the board when they pick mid to late 1st round.

Jackson Hately is the 4th of the SA quartet that dominated the National Championships and has been making a good impression in the SANFL. He's going to fall somewhere btween Adelaide's first and second picks, with Port also looming as a potential home. Would look good in Suns colours as he's just the type of medium tall midfielder needed to boost the current cohort.

Curtis Taylor is an impressive flanker who will go somewhere in the first round, probably later because he hasn't played much footy since the National Champs. He will be popular among Vic clubs after his performances for Vic Metro, but might fall to a team like GWS if not snapped up early.

Ian Hill is the cousin of Freo's Hill brothers and the Dockers have no doubt been watching the young West Australian closely. This is the kind of scenario where live trading could focus on Freo's first pick, currently #5 but likely to be pushed. Freo have had 3 retirements and they only have a couple of draft picks, #5 and #77. They may need to trade back to multiply their picks, such as Port's 1st and 3rd rounders or the Suns' WC pick plus a 2nd rounder. Hill could be the pick that hinges on such a trade, while Port and the Crows would really covet that pick #5 to nab one of the SA kids.

Rhylee West is a Bulldogs Father/Son who looks like and plays like his old man. The Dogs could get a real bargain here because they'll definitely match an offer but who knows when a rival bid will come. He is unlikely to get bid upon before the Dogs pick first so they might end up with 2 bonafide 1st round talents for considerably less in draft picks as their picks are #6 and #42. Alternatively, they may look to trade out of their high pick to consolidate the number of picks they'll need to secure enough talent.

Will Kelly is a Collingwood Father/Son and one of the top ranked key defenders in the Draft. The question here is whether the Pies like him enough to mortgage their future because their Draft pick cupboard is bare with #16, #49, #52, #70, #88 equalling 1639 draft points that won't give much change from Quaynor.

Luke Valente lacks the pure arse of his SA team mates, but there was a good reason that he was made captain because he was consistently their hardest worker. I expect he'll go higher than most predict because the SA teams will be desperate to try to get as many of this excellent crop as they can.

Connor McFadyen will be a terrific pick up for the Lions, who may even see him slide out of the top 20 and past their early 2nd round pick, which means they could score 3 players inside the first round and a half. He's very young, so expect to see him playing a lot of NEAFL before making the transition.

Bailey Scott is a top talent who was selected All Australian after being close to the best. He's listed at 74kg, but it's an old stat because he's clearly bigger this year than he was last year. AFL Draft Central had him going mid 2nd round, but everything with this kid is up in the air until he nominates a team. Suns will hope he nominates them and then slips as far down the Draft as possible.

Kieren Briggs is a GWS Academy player who came into the Rep season and did everything Goober Crossley did last year, winning the Allies MVP and really dominating in the ruck despite not being the tallest in the contest. The Giants will be hoping he slides past their early 2nd round pick so they can match any bids with their 3rd and 4th round picks, like the Suns are hoping they can do with Scott.

I will stop there because I honestly don't know much about any of the other players apart from Suns Academy guys and they deserve another post entirely.

In my lifetime I’ve known a few people whose nickname is “Ace”. From Panel-Beaters to Rockstars, they’ve all been very, very good at what they do. Looking forward to seeing this kid in action.

Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast.

I watch him play yesterday , I get why Paul Roos like him , got the footy smart of Sam Mitchell ,skill not too bad either , the only thing I don't like his speed ,well Sam Mitchell is not fast either . I called it the showdown between Miles VS Gibbons yesterday and Gibbons impressed me more .
