I just edited my post, I realised after typing that May is contracted.
We still wouldn’t get pick 3. Saints don’t need a KPD. He’s only been linked to Collingwood or Melbourne at this point.

Also McGovern wants to move to Victoria, likely Carlton. His manager said this on trade radio a few days ago. 0% he comes to the Gold Coast

I'm not so sure about a Victoria-only move, I reckon he just wants to get out of Adelaide at this stage. The Crows will be keen to maximise their return for him as well.

Trade radio Colin young mention talking to two WA club , two victoria club ( Carlton ,? ).

Manager said on radio he only wanted to go to Victoria. Carlton and one other vic team in discussion and his girlfriend is enrolled at Melbourne uni for next year

I hear he’s a bit of a whinger, we don’t need anymore

Here is the indicative draft order :

1. Carlton
2. Gold Coast
# Lynch compo
3. St Kilda

4. Brisbane
5. Fremantle
6. Western Bulldogs
7. Adelaide
8. Essendon

9. Port Adelaide
10. North Melbourne
11. Geelong
12. Greater Western Sydney
13. Sydney
14. Adelaide (received from Melbourne)
15. Hawthorn
16. Collingwood
17. Gold Coast (received from West Coast)
18. Richmond

Assuming that you get a pick b/w 2 & 3 as compo for Lynch that adds another one to your haul.

May is on the market, let's say the Saints are prepared to part with #3 for him.

Let's also say the Jack Martin talk is true (probably isn't but let's just assume it is) and he goes to Essendon, you can add #8 to your list. Or, you could also be part of a three-way deal with Melb & Freo over Jesse Hogan and end up with #5 instead.

Trade #2 to Adelaide (so they can draft Lukosious or Rankine) for McGovern & #7.

You also have Aaron Hall on the market but I would not expect a first round pick for him.

So the Suns could effectively go into the draft (in real numbers) with #3, #4, #7, #19 plus #6 or #9 after already picking up McGovern.
The Suns likely get 2nd or 3rd rounders for Hall and Kolodjashnij and there could be further trades and delistings. The way the Trade and Draft periods have been set up there is a 6 week window for trading picks and then there's living trading, so I expect the Suns to be active in improving their draft order to get those 4 or 5 high picks.

Your Draft Order is not quite accurate either. Here's the Top 40

1. Carlton^
2. Gold Coast^
# Lynch compo
3. St Kilda^
4.
Brisbane^
5. Fremantle^
6. Western Bulldogs^
7.
Adelaide^
8. Essendon^
9. Port Adelaide^
10. North Melbourne^
11. Geelong^
12. Sydney^
13. Greater Western Sydney^
14. Hawthorn^
15. Adelaide (received from Melbourne)
16. Richmond^
17. Collingwood*^
18. Gold Coast (received from West Coast)*
End of 1st round compensation picks
# Gaff compo
# Dahlhaus
19. Adelaide (received from Carlton)
20. West Coast (received from Gold Coast)^
21. Port Adelaide (received from St Kilda)
22. Brisbane
23. Greater Western Sydney (received from Fremantle)
24. Carlton (received from Western Bulldogs)
25. Carlton (received from Adelaide)
26. Gold Coast (received from Essendon)
27. Port Adelaide
28. North Melbourne
29. Gold Coast (received from Geelong)
30. Sydney
31. Essendon (received from Greater Western Sydney)
32. Hawthorn
33. Melbourne^
34. Richmond
35. Sydney (received from Collingwood)*
36. West Coast*
37. Adelaide (received from Carlton)
38. Gold Coast
*depends on GF
^highest pick
- Gold Coast have 6 picks inside 40
- Adelaide have 4 picks inside 40
- Port Adelaide have 3 picks inside 30
- Carlton have 3 picks inside 25

- Fremantle have 1 top 5 pick and nothing else until #77
- Brisbane look like trading out of pick #4 for Neale
- Melbourne's 1st pick is not until late 2nd round, so Hogan for #5 is likely
- St Kilda's only pick before #57 is #3 - Suns would have to trade a lot, but it is an achievable trade, especially if it involves a player
- Essendon could be coaxed out of #8 with multiple picks
- Geelong have a lot of father/sons and talent academy so they don't really need pick #11 as much as they need points to match bids that will come much later

Maybe he is going to the magpies ;)

Dont think free agents can name their club until the FA window opens, Remember reading this somewhere
I think they are able to nominate their preferred club if they want to. Was mentioned during the Brownlow coverage that the AFL get cranky if any big moves are made during grand final week and player managers and clubs get told to hold off, can’t be ruining their big day of course.

Trade week opens with offers to unrestricted free agents and their clubs have 3 days to respond.

Happy to learn we have been given two extra Cat A rookie spots for mature players. Will certainly make life easier for our list management team and just having two extra guys on our list could make a huge difference when the injuries inevitably come. There are no restrictions on when you can play Cat A rookies anymore so it really makes no difference in terms of opportunities for these mature players we are going to draft.

We don't have enough list spots for a mass refresh

Rosa retired
Rischitelli moved to rookie list
Lynch leaving
Barlow delisted
Hall traded
KK likely traded
Jaska, Willis and Spencer delisted from rookie list

Likely bringing in Horlin-Smith, Miles and C.Ellis

that gives us 3 senior list spots. We'll probably use 2, 3 and 18 and then we'll use the mature players concession we've been given with the extra rookie spots we're allowed.
You are overlooking MacPherson and Holman being upgraded from the Rookie List. Otherwise, you have it about right. Hall to North, KK to Demons would open up 4 Senior List spots, with the mail in that GHS, Miles and Ellis are done deals (regardless of what they cost, the return on trades for Hally and Kade will be roughly the same as what needs to be spent on acquiring the 3 new guys).

However, the purge is nowhere near completed because if these changes take place there will 1 vacant Senior spot and 6 vacant Rookie spots (could be 3 Cat A and 3 Cat B, 4 Cat A and 2 Cat B, or 5 Cat A and 1 Cat B depending on how Dawson and Heron are allocated).

So, with only 1 Senior list spot available after the above 9 Outs and 4 Ins above (plus extra 2 Rookie spots) who else goes from the Senior list to make way for Draft picks?

Players out of contract in 2018:
Aaron Hall - gone
Aaron Young - to be re-signed
Harrison Wigg* - list clogger, contributed little
Jack Leslie* - in danger of being cut
Jacob Dawson - Academy rookie
Jacob Heron - Academy rookie
Jarrod Witts - to be re-signed
Jarryd Lyons - to be re-signed

Jesse Lonergan* - 3 injury disrupted seasons
Kade Kolodjashnij - probably gone

*candidates for re-rookie listing

Possible Trade Bait
- Tom Nicholls is under contract, however, there just aren't many rucks in the the Draft or AFL for every club to be happy
- Steven May's name has come up a lot - firm wait and see
- Jack Martin trade rumours have been quashed.

Bailey Scott's decision may force all three players above to be delisted, or give one a reprieve. I would like to see some or all of these guys re-rookied. Wigg hasn't even played an AFL in 4 seasons, but is highly regarded. Lonergan and Leslie are not Top 22 players, although they are quality backups and a 1 year prove it deal on the Rookie list would be excellent insurance given their particular positions would be difficult to cover should a few injuries hit.

That was what was reported in the Adelaide Advertiser and Herald Sun a year ago. Then there was and article on Fox Sports on August 4th listing all the 19 uncontracted Suns players, including Wigg. I'm gonna go with the Broadcaster.
