I disagree in this instance. He's spent a lot of time with North Melbourne and Geelong too where he was father son eligible. By all accounts North made a massive play for him and it paid off. I don't see that as a blight at all

Having watched your academy and Neafl this year Portelli and Foster are the natural footballers

From what was said on Trade Radio, North had a good relationship with him since he was 12 years of age, spending time in the academy program.

So why didn't we make a big play for him. It's a bad look that adds fuel to the "Suns are a basket case" media driven fire

All father sons spend time with their potential clubs at stages through the year all the way up from like U14's in order to get them used to the systems, meet players, and see what they'll be walking into essentially. He's had that experience at North, Geelong and GC

If he was a born and bred local it would have been really disappointing but really since he’s only been here about 5 years, he’s technically more of a Victorian.
I’m a bit disappointed as he was our Academy captain (we lose another captain!!)
