2018 Formula One Season

McLaren had a mare last night. Hopefully these issues are minor and they can iron them out early. F1 NEEDS Alonso competing!

Ferrari look outstanding.

Look at McLaren's airbox compared to the other Renault powered cars.

Cause of the issue there? They seem to still not have ditched their "size zero" philosophy.

Bottas 22kmph slower than Verstappen on straights but still manages a faster lap time.
I hate to be the doom and gloom guy, but at this stage mechanical reliability is the only hurdle in the way of another Hamilton world title.

Yep I wholeheartedly agree. It's not gonna be any different. The 3 engine limit has already secured Mercedes victory imo.

They clearly still have the best, most reliable, and most fuel efficient engine in what is now possibly more an engine formula than ever with the ******* RIDICULOUS limits. + Mix that with an amazing chassis that has evolved after 3 years of consistent constructors and drivers championship prize money, they're basically unstoppable.

im sure that even if the development freeze ended now for everyone but Merc they'd still be the front runner by Rd 20...

its almost like LM and FIA want to keep Merc up there..

ohhh conspiracy theory!

not really .. but damn that car is something else.

I think you'd have to give him a chance. He now has one season under his belt, and a whole off season. At a minimum, all you have to do with Hamilton is stay close in the points, and then Hamilton start getting a tight bum and starts flopping. If Bottas stays close and doesn't talk himself up, keeps everything within himself, he can get the job done.

Ricciardo 3 tenths off Hamilton on the same tyre right now. (Ultrasoft).

More woes for McLaren as they have to change the engine due to an oil leak.

They're a joke.

New best time of the day from Ricciardo! It's a 1m18.047s, putting him 0.353s clear of Hamilton - and breaking Massa's 2008 (unofficial) lap record.

Ran over 150 laps too.

Good day for Red Bull.

Ric was on the hyper softs. Dreadfully confusing.

The washed out pink of the hypers and white of the medium tyres are hard to identify on track too.

Last night autosport were claiming that Bottas was into the low 1:18s on mediums when he was in fact on the hypers.

Stupid naming and Color schemes.

So what colours the hard? You see an H and what are you meant to think?

Hards are ice blue and super hard is orange.

Don't expect either to be used this year unless something goes wrong.

KUBICA DRIVING FOR WILLIAMS TODAY

Robert Kubica will be driving for Williams this morning, and tomorrow morning for that matter. The test and reserve driver received two half days last week, but weather conditions limited his running. He'll be hoping to do more laps in the FW41 today and Friday.

Good on him, go well.

Makes no sense for Williams to use their test driver instead of their 2 "rookie" drivers that need mileage though.

For reference:

Wet = Blue
Intermediate = Green

Super hard = Orange
Hard = Ice blue
Medium = White
Soft = Yellow
Super soft = Red
Ultra soft = Purple
Hyper soft = Washed out pink

Also some compounds are a compound softer this year.

This year's Soft is last year's Super soft and this year's mediums are last year's soft. Etc.

Super hard is only there as a placeholder in case the softer compounds blow up like they did a few years back.
