The club is able to take 5 picks in the rookie draft and i am assuming 1 will be Buckley and another Reid
And likely Richards is picked up

If your primary list is 38 then you can have up to 6 Cat A rookies and separate from that you can also have 3 Cat B rookies.

So we have filled every Cat B rookie spot with Buckley taking the last spot, and with the Cat A spots we have Lloyd, Reid to be picked up so in theory we could take 4 live picks.

Former Blue Dylan Buckley has landed at the Giants as they add another small forward to the list, while ex-Dog and Bomber Stewart Crameri is heading to Geelong.

GIANTS National Recruiting Manager Adrian Caruso said: “We think Dylan can add to our depth predominantly as a small pressure forward but he also has the ability to play down back. “He is competitive and will have a crack, and will add to the competition for spots in our AFL side.”

I’ve watched a bit of Buckley and I have to say he has got some positive attributes.

He is high energy and has a crack, sometimes he gets thrown around as he is very light and decision making lets him down.

He is not heinous and is a nice depth player if we get light on in the middle of the year.

I think the ruck decision is we probably feel Flynn will be ready to step up if we have an injury to Lobb and/or Simpson.

I think there is probably a thought that we also have Patton who can help out there as well. Perhaps we are one short but I reckon that is the thinking.

Dylan is a solid citizen and does have some weapons - his pace and kicking are sublime. The obvious downside is size, but his decision making is what really cost him during his time with us. Top bloke though, and if he gets on top of that decision making he's well worth a spot.

Once again we got a guy to move to Sydney and then didn't pick him up, you would have to think most guys we offer that to now would be thinking why relocate to Sydney when I might have to do it again in another 12mths.

I would be happy if he pulls a himmelberg but picking up Keefe as an extreme emergency and the development of Flynn has probably pushed a project ruck out of the list requirements

Macreadie got to move to Sydney, go to Kings, and still got drafted. I don't see the downside from his POV.
