We still need mature big body Mids and I really don’t want to see Dow, Setterfield and Walsh getting smashed each week. If we can pick up some cheap cover like Barlow and/or Bell. I also think we need to focus on getting in some more small forwards, I would like to keep McAdam but he looks like he’ll be a crow. I would also go after scrimshaw he could free up Docherty to play midfielder as well. Essendon and North have shown that if you can show improvement player will come to you. I’m hoping we can finish 9th to 12th or higher next year.
Bell will stay with Brisbane, and Barlow will likely end up at the Hawks or Dons.

Still need running power or players that can break the lines on the cheap. Brandon Ellis and Murdoch will be two I have in mind that would come relatively inexpensive.
If we can throw them in one of those chambers from The Fly, sure, otherwise no.

EDIT: wires crossed on Bell being re-rookied

Port have 10&11
Here they come for #1

I'd still want the #1 and feel we may do much better than what Adelaide and Port may have to offer.

Gold Coast looks like the best bet for a trade of firsts to me and if it does somehow come about......it will be a good day.

Yeah...i wouldn't even accept 8 & 13 from Adelaide for 1, and they won't offer more than that.

I like the look of those outs!

E.Curnow is absolutely best 22 next year...maybe not in 2020.

But yeah we actually have a very impressive midfield on paper now...so many highly rated, talented players.
Only problem is most of them are still kids and we just have to be patient.

Cripps, Kennedy, SPS, Fisher, Dow, LOB, Walsh, Setterfield, Lang, Cuningham...potential to be a dominant midfield.
All first rounders except Fisher.

Add one more mature gun in the caliber of Shiel next year and we're set.

We can forget SOS accepting that type of deal.
SOS is set on who he wants, so that's going to take something more than those two numbers for him to let go.
I don't see us doing too much more trading this year, unless for instance a Jack Martin was involved.

Would something like this work and give everyone what they want:

OUT: 2018 #1, 2019 2nd.
IN: 2018 #3, Jack Martin ........... ensuring we still get Sam Walsh.

A bit tricky to navigate as it could blow up if Gold Coast played the game and took the player we wanted at #1

I reckon GC would just take Walsh...

Only way I could see trading down and landing Walsh being safe is if Crows or Power got #1 to take Lukosius and we had the next pick.

Or perhaps if the SA teams had the first two picks and we were 3rd, but even then I’d be hesitant if one of them might take Walsh with 2 before our pick.

If we really want Walsh I find it pretty hard to come up with a scenario where we can trade down and still land him. If our first choice is Smith it’s a little easier but still tough because we’d still want a top 4/5 pick to go after him.

I reckon we keep 1.

I agree those picks aren’t enough
But
If Port get 7 for wingard
Port 7,10,11 for 2,3
Take both SA boys
Crows would blow up and do anything for 1
8&13&??

To my eyes, there's a gap between the top 6/7 to the top few.
No way I'd trade the 2 & 3 for 7, 10 & 11 and even GC would be smart enough to know this.

I'm telling you; They want the golden ticket :)

No where near enough. Need a top 4 pick in combination with 10, 11 or 13 to get a real conversation started, or a pick in the 5-7 range to go with something like pick 8.

The more picks and upgrades it takes to get near the value, the higher up the price goes.

Bell has been delisted by Brisbane
Sorry, was under the impression they were shuffling him to the rookie list. He'll definitely go to the Gold Coast then if he's getting an AFL contract.

I could live with that and take Bailey Smith or Izak Rankine instead if Walsh. Some on here prefer either anyway. No need for the second though, third at best.

Why would they do that when they have 2&3? If they weren't after Walsh they would still get the players they want with their picks. All they are doing in that deal is trading Martin for a future 2nd rounder.

I'd like to bring Bell home. Then delist spud from the last year or two: Shaw, Mullett or Lang.

Shaw and Mullett are already gone, and Bell isn’t much better than them anyway.

Lang has talent and is the best footballer of the four, certainly worth persisting with.

Forgot those two were gone. Thanks for the reminder.
I just liked Bell's courage and desire which I feel like could help NBs. Names were just examples of previous spuds. Bell might feel obliged to grow given we helped him get close to family a couple of years ago.
