Dean Anderson played under 100 games and has a kid who should go top 5, Matty Young (98 games) also has a boy who should go top 5 to 10. It's some cruel twist of fate that keeps F and S selections from us. It would have been a Geelong like haul.

From what i saw, there should be plenty of good inside mids around our spot.

Matthew Rowell
Provides an ideal balance through the midfield between winning the ball on the inside -- attacking the ball furiously with breakaway speed -- and breaking the lines on the outside. Winning best-on-ground honours in a losing TAC Cup Grand Final and the Under-17 All Stars Grand Final curtain raiser, Rowell finished the season ominously and is deserving of pick 1 favouritism the way he closed the season.

Caleb Serong
Serong is a ball winner with explosive speed and an incredible first step. He is dangerous one-on-one, strong overhead, a high leaper who possesses damaging skills and is among the highest impact per possession in the draft class. In the Under-17 Grand Final curtain raiser, Serong secured a game-high 28 disposals and looked a class above all except Matthew Rowell.

Cooper Stephens
One of the premier ball winners of the 2019 crop, Stephens has the production on the board and is one of the most prolific at stoppages. His contested ball-winning and distribution by hand are his most pronounced strengths with his burst of speed out of stoppages another weapon. Stephens was among Geelong Falcon's bests in each of his last six matches.

Dylan Stephens
Kicking 13 goals from his eight SANFL Under-18 matches, Stephens is a prolific ball-winning forward and midfielder who can play inside or outside. He runs all day and hurts the opposition with his kicking. His most prolific performances came in the finals with games including 27 disposals, 11 inside 50s and four goals and 35 disposals, 15 contested possessions, seven clearances and one goal

Wilkie looks solid AF. Reminds me of when we drafted Sam Fisher and I knew he'd just get s**t done.

Hehe. I really don't understand how recruiters get it so wrong so often. Maybe they spend too much time worrying about whether or not the kids make their beds with hospital corners.

met Josh Carrr in Adelaide shorly after we signed Wilkie and Young. Young seemed to fit a more immediate need ie pressure forward and I talked him up. Carr was adamanat Wilkie woudl turn out the best of the two...he obviously say something in him

After seeing this thread I ended up on Youtube watching some behind the scenes videos, amazing to think RCD was so highly rated yet he wasn’t given much of a chance at AFL level.

Wonder if he ever gets another run at it.

Anything that has 2018 in the title makes me cringe because that was the official “this rebuild has failed” year. I remember being desperate for a mid and not being overly thrilled to get Max and while he’s obviously going to be a superstar it’s five years later and we’re still looking for the same thing. As Ross said on Footy Classified we need to be looking at that area at the draft but Owens, Windhager and Phillipou could definitely fill that role in the coming years. It's just that they're playing well in the current roles they're playing.
