Hill would be a awful pick for wce.
Jarrod Cameron i believe is a better talent and so is Sydney Stack.
I have doubts Hill can make it.

Iam hoping Freo pick up Ian Hill

And to a degree I am hoping we won't pick him either (unless he is there at our third or fourth pick) - but don't mention that on the Freo board or they will go all defensive...

FWIW I also have a relatively high gut % that he won't make it, but there is also a slight chance that he could be very good as well. The skill element of his game is a bit overrated (too many people are basing views on that one video from last year) and I'm worried despite the nice speed / agility and relatively fast decision making package that I'm not seeing something that translates to AFL (what position does he play? Too small for midfield, not really a forward skillset (though some of the right tools)...maybe as Knightmare says half back?)....but if we pick him early I hope I'm wrong! :p

Agree. I can see a return on investment being better spent elsewhere.

Leave Hill for Freo. Hopefully they pull the trigger at 14.

Think Port and GWS are a chance with multiple picks.

Is Hill on a par with Rankine or just slightly under because he hasn’t played the small fwd role ..They look to have similar attributes with Rankine maybe plays more aggressively ..

Is this a fair observation??

Rankine wins games from his own boot, not sure Hill is that influential. Rankine is next level raw talent .

Your thoughts are similar to mine
Watching him through the year and seeing Stack have so much more influence on games than him
has probably put me of mind that he is one I don't want.

Influence is something you can't easily measure but I agree Stack (ignoring the offield issues) seems to just have a greater impact.

Further to this, Chris25 was very brave and went onto the Freo board and put up the comparison of taking Tyron Smallwood with a later pick versus taking Ian Hill with an earlier one.

In the games I have seen of Smallwood, I would have said that he (from purely a small forward perspective) had more influence over the result through not only the goals kicked but the pressure brought to the forward line. Nevertheless he is much slower than Hill, the highlight reel not as extensive. But his workrate and energy he brought felt like it lifted the forward lines he was in in those games. It will be interesting to see where he lands in this draft.

Stack looks gun. Hope he sorts out whatever the off-field stuff is. Can't understand how draft boards on here have him so low (unless they are taking into account the non-football stuff). Maybe it is just that he is noticeable but in actuality isn't helping his team win as much as it looks like?

I'm nominate Woodcock and Bytel as sliders who do well at whichever club picks them up.

Ned McHenry could do the same - small, but has real mongrel. I suspect his teammates and fans will love him but oppositions will hate him.

If we're talking hidden gems, I rate Damon Greaves as the third best prospect from WA this year - ahead of Stack and Cameron. He's a top 40 prospect and genuine second round chance. Better player than a lot of the names I'm seeing mentioned around that mark. I was going to just not mention him until after I take him in the BigFooty draft, but oh well.

I think he shapes as a Kamdyn McIntosh type as a wing/half back. Most of his football has been as an attacking defender, really nice kick and smart with the ball. But when thrown up onto a wing, he really impressed with his running and ability to find the ball.

I think Hill's kicking is massively over rated. Has no penetration and gets very loopy over distance

Cal Twomey mentioned that Bailey Williams could be available at Hawthorns first pick at #53. Surely he is deluded.

Williams is in my Top 10. So maybe i'm the deluded one.

I think he will be a ripping KPF and ruck option in the AFL. Outstanding prospect imo.

Haven't seen a bloke his size with that much X-factor in along while.

And without being silly I would say he is another level above the next level. On raw talent he is the best junior I have ever seen and it is not close.
