North 50k lol
We achieved 45k 2 years ago so this is a realistic target.
Bit rich to be making a lol comment about memberships mate considering each and every one of your seasons for the past 12 years has ended in mediocrity.

Short memories and all that

I think interesting one is the Demons.

I remember thinking the Demons supporters were hugely overlyoptimistic about predicted finals crowds, when it looked like we might match up.

Clearly I was wrong when they drew 91.7k to the MCG against the Cats. Given the Friday night slot and the fact it seemed a very pro-Demons crlwd, that was very impressive for an EF.

I get there's something going on with MCG and their traditionally unique status as the club of the MCG. Does it translate to a big bump in club members next year is what I dont know.

Have heard our 3 top echelon memberships have been sold out and now have waiting lists. With all the bandwagoners/plastic supporters finally putting pen to paper I wouldn't be surprised if we have anywhere from 50k to 60k in 2019.

Yes we have a decent bandwagon.

If we get some extra Friday night games 50,000 is possible.

Now literal pets count as members so the numbers are always skewed.

No they dont - there are pet memberships but they dont count in any official tally.

The AFL confirmed in 2016 that it had tightened membership regulations and to be counted as a member an individual must have a name, contact details, have contributed $50 to the club and received a membership pack. The official counts also include multiple memberships held by an individual. Pet memberships are not counted but the AFL confirmed babies and toddlers are included.
This means that some clubs lose some part of the membership numbers they tout in their membership tallies. Adelaide and Port Adelaide are the most affected by this.
According to Port Adelaide, the audit includes all membership products that meet certain criteria, applied consistently across the league’s 18 clubs, and Port’s share of the 8,000 Adelaide Oval stadium members based on a split of 28% being allocated to the club by the ground’s Stadium Management Authority.

How many of those are actually going to turn up to games? Even having 100k members Richmond couldn't even sell out the opening game of the year against arch-rivals Carlton.

Well I live in Perth so I'll only be attending the Fremantle game this year ... does that mean my family of 4 interstate membership doesnt count in your eyes?

I dont know -
90k is alright I wouldve thought?
you do realise that many sold out games dont even get beyond 90k? There are always MCC and to a lesser extent AFL members who dont rock up on the day. Even Anzac day which is always a sellout is often under 90k..

With Collingwood, Tigers, Dees, West Coast and Essendon (to an extent), many big clubs becoming better all at the same time, I reckon we are entering a period where (collectively) substantially more people than ever before are buying/willing to buy memberships.
I've no real statistics for this but I reckon 5+ years time, reaching 100,000 will be the norm for the top 3 clubs.

Richmond 103k
West Coast 93k
Collingwood 89k
Essendon 83k
Hawthorn 81k
Adelaide 62k
Geelong 61k
Sydney 57k
Melbourne 57k
Port Adelaide 56k
Carlton 52k
Fremantle 52k
St Kilda 47k
Western Bulldogs 44k
North Melbourne 42k
Brisbane 31k
GWS 29k
Gold Coast 13k

Got Geelong, St Kilda and the Dogs with mild increases, Adelaide, Sydney, Carlton and Fremantle dropping, big 4 jumps are West Coast, Collingwood, Essendon and Melbourne.
Good prediction re Carlton. Already at last year's level and we still have 2 weeks until round 1. Only about 11k ahead of same time last year. Based on trend, we should get to about 68K by end of count
