5, 9, 25, Reid, Paddlebum AND Dawson for Daniher.

That’s how stupid some of the speculation has become.

Here’s hoping Daniher stays at Essendon, we recruit a couple of gun mids in the draft & the Swans marketing department get back in their box.

Where has the Swans marketing department been involved? All I've seen is some ex-footy player hacks trying to be media personalities , throwing up possibilities for which there is no basis. I haven't seen the club make any statements beyond they are interested and will be respectful and private. Everything else has been media beatup.

Irresponsible reporting at its finest. The headline, Ralph himself, it's all opinion based on nothing. If Ralph and the article stated clearly that this was his opinion, all good. But they dress it up like it's a true story. Woeful.
They are just barracking for a fellow Vic team. We are the villains after taking Buddy away & not one of the media called out the AFL over our unfair trade ban.

Granted it’s speculation - but the suspicion remains that the Swans will pay overs for Daniher in the belief they must have a glamour forward, lest they lose memberships.

'happy to let go' implies a direct quote from the club that we are happy to let Reid go

Bit of bored Friday night speculation because I'm stuck looking after the missus who's sick, so hear me out.

Maybe that alias that was going after Punts was just dead certain that JD won't be wearing #3

'happy to let go' implies a direct quote from the club that we are happy to let Reid go

And we all know that if a headline-chasing creep like Jon Ralph had a direct quote from the Swans, or any inkling of information from the Swans that they were happy to do away with Reid, he'd be shouting from the rooftops that he's been directly told that the Swans are happy to trade Reid. Not dressing it up like this.

Meanwhile Jon Patton slips to Hawthorn for a 3rd rnd pick. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but when you stack the AFL media and its appendages with ex players from the big Vic clubs you have to expect this sort of bullshyte.

Saw in this article that Phillips is on a short list for Essendon. Maybe a trade is starting to form...

Swans out: Papley, 25
In: Daniher

Carlton out: Phillips, Pick 9
In: Papley

Essendon Out: Daniher
In: Phillips, Pick 9, Pick 25

Maybe a few other minor pick swaps.
I look forward to picks 1 & 2 next year!

Not to mention Jenkins. Maybe not in the same class when fit but seriously the worth of the strong marking forward these days is highly debatable. You need a player with a few more tricks than being able to run and jump at the footy. Why has MAson Cox flatlined? It's because all the best key defenders know how to push these guys under the footy, block their run and block their space. The stay at home full forward is almost extinct.

"All the tall forwards we want"

Buddy, Reid, McCartin. Yep we're set for the next decade... :drunk:
I should have written "All the tall forwards we need" Sinclair will also be playing forward once Naismith is up and going. Blakey is 196cm so that's another. In all we have at least 5 options forward already. In 2019 we were the more efficient team inside 50 in all but 5 games, despite that Buddy missed plenty. Our forward line is not a problem.

Sure it'd be nice to have Joe but we need to strengthen our mids, we don't need to be losing talent we need for talent we don't. Daniher is no Buddy. He's half as good and his body is a risk. Daniher is closer to Reid than he is to Buddy, both in terms of age, output and reliability.

What will set us up for the next decade are the younger generation like McCartin and Blakey. If Daniher is there next year then we can have another look at him and let Essendon take the risk on his body. He's not going to win us a flag this year.

Thought I’d brush off the old username and join the conversation/bitching. I’m hoping by the end of the trade window this user name won’t be an appropriate description of our efforts.

Anyway, my 2c worth for this trade window.

It’s time to show some teeth and stay strong. We often get shat on from a great height by the AFL and Vic clubs/media. No free lunches for other teams this time around and the media rabble can do one.

Daniher is a great player (or) was a great player (or) might again be a great player (or) is totally knackered. There’s a lot of unknowns there. The known is he will cost a lot in picks and cap space. We should be offering according to those risks and balance that out against imminent need and value next year. He costs us nothing next year or bankrupts us this year. Anyone remember us signing Bradshaw.... and what that promised.... how did that turn out again.
I’d offer next years first and 25 - nothing more. Next years first is about what they would get if he walked but they can access it and trade it now, 25 would be their no.1 pick as it currently stands. Points for next year are next years problem. I wouldn’t be allowing Dodoro to drag us into endless negotiations.

Papley... we’ll I’m gutted. If we lose him on top of F/S’s Mitchell and Dunkley not wanting us it looks ugly. He’s not even played 100 games to have F/S offspring either.
Anyway, Carlton and Geelong gave us the blueprint with Gibbs and Kelly and Brisbane set the current market with Cameron.
It’s pick 9 or it’s nothing and he stays. I don’t know his circumstances but I’d absolutely back his professionalism and our support structures for one extra year. If that want something back it should be expletives. They can find currency for Martin from some other sucker. Papley is proven, a leader, still young and there is nothing in the draft in that position that is obviously better.

Jones.... hmmm. I think he’s worth pick 15-25. We know we’ll get unders and also know any future is going to slide massively. I don’t think there is much angle to work with on this trade, either way dont let this drag on and remind them that they owe us. I really wanted us to draft Acres a few years back.... maybe player is the way to go? If picks then try for 18 with something going back. Shit club he’s chosen and a shit trade window to do it too...

Forgot Menzel. He's only 28. A handy 190cm. In 2017 he wasn't far short of Daniher's goals/game 2.1 vs 2.8. What's more he didn't cost us a first round pick.

You analogy with Bradshaw is apt though IMO Daniher is not a great player. Buddy is a great player. Joe is a very good player when he's fit, but as you say, he may also be completely knackered and I agree we should be balancing decisions on the known risks.

I wouldn't be too concerned about why Paps wants to trade. Papley isn't leaving because he doesn't like the Swans. Mitchell left for the big bucks and we'd have lost other talent if we'd offered more. In hindsight he'd be handy now but I have no problem with that decision at the time. Dunkley yeah, shame we didn't go after him harder, again, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Who knows, Dawson may win a Charlie in three years time and we'll all be patting ourselves on the back for taking a punt on him at pick 56.

I don't want to see Papley go full stop, but it's pretty hard if he really has pressing family reasons. Still I agree we shouldn't bend over.

Have you been told lately?

Stop talking sense, the nuffs that talk shit will say ‘turning circle of titanic (Lockett)’, doesn’t chase (Dunstall, Riewoldt, Hawkins, Hogan, etc) and won’t win us a flag (Skilton).

Pressing family reasons my arse!

Thankyou friend.

Good to see Ansett is still in bizzyness!

It (avatar) used to be on the coach reclining, but we have a flag to win and I have a day off (on the pizz... hence).
And they are much more aggro on BF , here now?
I will have to go soon coz the modz here fink, I am not PC!

I agree I am not.

Swans will challenge for the flag in 2021.
There is a very good team developing, keep the faith,
FFS Blakey Dawson Heeney Mc Cartin Oli over …. fillin the rest they are getting the balance right

But, could you pull on the boots, and do the ruck? If not find please us one!
Sinkers is great worker, but is not good enough in that position.

Onwards to victory

Wouldn't worry with PC Corpi - carry on chap.

Very lucky in bagging Blakey The Blood, looks a generational type, and add a Dawson The Developing, coupled with a hirsute Heeney and the infill is about.
The Bloods broth is brewing, it's not all chicken little as some seem set on.

Now, no to boots - just out off em after 2 months
So - lets look at likely lad Lloyd Meek. Could we wiggle Meek out of Freo?

Onwards to victory!
