Port definitely jumping ahead of any Mead bid by getting 13. I would have thought the Gold Coast at 15 and 20 also fit the bill, as Robertson would be perfect for them.
Worth noting that that 1st pick on the second night was a hot commodity in itself last year.

We could probably look at trading it back again for a later second pick and some points for next year if we wanted to.

Interesting comment from Matt Balmer in the Fox chat - Rates Bailey Smith higher than Rowell.

In your opinion, how many from this draft would have gone top 10 last year

Rowell and Anderson would for mine. After Baz Smith

Yep my thinking too - a future first rounder (to clubs without NGA picks / FS picks next year) is attractive.

Rumor seems to be floating around that Hawthorn are trying to trade next years first pick to get Elijah Taylor.

If we could trade back 13 to 15 and 20, then trade 20 for Hawthorn's 2020 first plus their early 3rd (currently 42) that would be an amazing result.

Then we just need Hawthorn to suck next year - trade up our 2 first rounders to get pick 1 or 2 and go into deficit for Marra.

So simple.

The option of two top 20 picks in exchange for #13 made me think of the so-called marshmallow test* where 4yo kids are told they can have ONE treat now (and it's put in front of them) but if they wait 15 minutes without eating it they can have TWO treats.

Do we have the self-restraint to pass up on somebody really good at 13 to get two players nearly as good?

* The original test in the 1970s has been the subject of much discussion over the years. The aim was to see if delayed gratification had any correlation with success later in life. The videos of replication tests (which haven't always confirmed the original findings) have become classics. However I suspect that's as much to do with the "cute" factor as with any underlying scientific merit.

... or the chance to get the same player we would take at 13, plus extras down the track / a better second pick this year?

Therein lies the tease. It will depend how much lower the first of those picks would be I suppose.

If it's only 2-3 picks down the order it'd be tempting and we'd be a chance to get the same player but if it's much more than that we'd be much less likely to get him. Then it becomes a question of whether two quite different players (eg Bianco, Rantall) will make up for the one we passed up (say Weightman or Bergman).

Or has Sam Power got everyone completely bluffed?

Who is going to be making the calls during the draft for us, Power (General Manager of List and Recruiting) or Austin (National Recruiting Manager)?
Austin reports to Power so I'd imagine Power gets the final call.

After wanting Aish over Bont and Coffield over Naughton, I no longer really have an opionion on who will be best.

On the contrary, it seems you have a real talent for picking the dud player - thats invaluable information!

Who do YOU prefer Picket or Weightman? Be honest.

Reckon could be something like Pick 13 for Crows 22 and 23
Move up a bit in the draft and risk Weightman dropping
Too far back for my liking Vital? I’d pass and keep our pick (but who am I)

Could be the "Weekend at Bernie's" theory all over again, playing dead drawing the prey closer only to strike
with such ferocity at the very last second drawing nods of approval from all present.
Not enough Weekend at Bernies love on this site

If we did manage to snag the extra pick in the late 1st round, I'd be open to grabbing Worrell. Don't like him at 13, but do like him a little further back, and he's already been training with us this year
