List Mgmt. 2019 Draft/Trade/FA Thread - Final Wrap

Yes, he’s being recruited to play HBF. Witherden and Rich will share the Hodge role, and Ah Chee, Answerth and Rich will rotate as our small rebounding defenders.
Good luck....he's not a defender as you will find out. More suited to a wing or half forward....and so injury prone.

So if you really want to keep him delist someone and put him on the main list?
Yes, but there's no harm in asking. I don't think it's likely that it will be accepted, but we'd be negligent not to ask.

seeing as there are a few Lions posters lurking here, I watched a bit of that NEAFL final and noticed your players were in incredible nick, whats the commentary around Josh Walker and Mathieson

I would take Nick Robertson as part of the Ah Chee deal, 191 cm, 98 kg aggressive midfielder with good endurance. Tough bastard

played 22 games the year before he left 2016
payed 11 games 2015
played 20-22 games every year from 2011-2014

can you shed some light on what exactly was 'cooked' did he play injured all of 2016?
Similar with Rockliff and Beams.

All three players played with serious injuries in their last season with us before leaving.

We knew their bodies were at the point of continuously breaking down.

They weren’t cooked as in slowing down. They are cooked as in their bodies can’t take a full season of crash and bash.

OK I think what he's trying to say and this is just my take from way over here, is that your mob finished 2nd in the H&A, played in 2 finals, won the 2nd div (NEAFL) UNDEFEATED and yet you still want "special dispensation". What would be the thinking behind that request?
And all my post was about, was giving a little insight in to each player and the reported offseason of each.

Wasn’t providing any comment about the Suns or Lions.

Didn’t warrant such a comment back.

As for the Lions thinking in asking for special dispensation to keep Eagles on as a fourth year rookie, no idea.

So if you really want to keep him delist someone and put him on the main list?
I’ve said the same on the Lions board.

Yeah, I first thought he was being recruited to play a half forward role and to compete with Allen Christensen.

Which didn’t make a lot of sense to me with Cedric Cox playing that role in the NEAFL, along with academy prospects Keidean Coleman and Noah Cumberland. Then add in Keidean’s younger brother who also plays the same position and is our top prospect for next year in our academy.

But there’s been talk about him playing back.

As for his injuries, we’ll see how our medical staff do.

Just used whatever GCS get and draft state league players, should learn the lesson of trading multiple second and third round to Eagles and Brisbane now, in return getting second and third round for Martin and Ah Chee. What goes around come around. Draft them top 10, get 2,3, 4 Rd pick for them and then trade them out pick 14 or pick 19 with future second Rd.

Mathieson is signed up for a couple more years, is currently seen as first choice inside mid to come in if there are injuries to Neale or Lyons.

Walker out of contract. Genuine tall utility. Possibly should look for opportunities elsewhere as he’s going to be overtaken by some of our young key talls.

Robertson reportedly has GWS chasing him. He’s a tough nut, but his decision making can be slow and iffy most of the time. Best employed as a tagger in the midfield and defence. Has elite endurance, but not genuine speed. Was employed as a loose tag on Whitfield on the weekend and did a good job.

There really aren’t any good State league players this year. Certainly none who are better than the guys you brought in last year.

If you don’t trade in any best 22 players this offseason, just go to the draft with as many top 15 picks as possible.

Robertson did a great job on Whitfield and bigger when up close (he was at NEAFL GF). Might be a good tagger/mid for us. Walker can look elsewhere - he's a back up at best for the other big guys. I do think there's a few guys in the 2s that should seriously consider driving down the road just like Ah Chee has done for you. Just a matter of how strong GCS negotiate - and there's the rub!

Mitch Grigg in SANFL would be worth talking to again. He wasn't keen last year but might have changed his mind after seeing a few of his local mates get a go in the big league.

Only two now. List managers are potatoes. Eagles take petrucelle, Liam Ryan, Oscar Allen with GC second Rd, lion use GC multiple pick and turn to McFadden, Ely smith, Tom Berry, Tom Joyce, Noah Answeth. If GC trade future second again I don't know what to said, if you said this year worse, next year is a compromise draft. GC need to rebuild getting top 15 not going to do the job. Lukosius and Ben King will get over if they stay. Add another 3 this year the cycle go on. Selling top 15 players pick in draft for second and third Rd is not fun. No more silly trading with Eagles and Brisbane too.

West Coast are likely to face a salary cap problem if they get Tim Kelly. I've heard they already have 3 players on over $1 million per season. Do they have any players we should try for?

Chris masten , I am just joking.

I don't know about that, I like the look of Partington from Glenelg, and he's still only 22.

I also like Ricardi more accurate kicking than Corbett. Ben Sokol deserve to be look at, get state combine invite. All this are in the over 30 to 40 plus rage of pick, won't need to overpaid them, don't need to worry about getting junk pick back like ah chee, Martin and shrimshaw.

Ah Chee was probably overpaid the last 2 years, club invested into him, granted him personal leaves and got nothing really back now when he built his body and should start delivering. I am sure Witts could go to a winning team, Swallow, Sexton too. Good for Ah Chee but no admiration from me. Going to Lions is another aspect I don't like.

well put

Liam duggan contracted until 2021, premiership player, if GCS get Weller for pick 2, Duggan under contract for another 2 years, surely Eagles asking for this year pick 1 and next year second Rd. All those pick then go to Geelong for Tim Kelly.

No doubt it's 2 way street. Suns can only build the best environment and hope players will build close relationships and stay together. But without wins even best environment will not save Suns from players exodus. Maybe the Melbourne idiots are correct, AFL should dissolve Suns. With the current players movement system and after 7 years of mismanagement, the odds are stacked up strongly against Suns to succeed short-term. I just feel it will be make or break next year.
Of course, there is 0 admiration of his choices but you can understand why he made it, also the going to the Lions thing hurts as well.

Dude you need to do some research before spouting off about the kids we drafted last year.

We received picks 32, 41, 44 and 78 from Gold Coast in the first pick swap. We traded pick 32 for Marcus Adams. 41 and 44 we traded with Beams to Collingwood. We didn't use pick 78 at the draft.

Not one of our draftees were drafted with a pick we got from Gold Coast. Every pick we traded in from Gold Coast we then on-traded in other deals, except for the future picks, which we still have.

Ely Smith, drafted with the first round pick we got from Collingwood in the Dayne Beams trade.

Tom Berry, drafted with what was originally pick 30 which we received from Fremantle in the Lachie Neale trade.

Tom Joyce, drafted with what was originally pick 35 which we received from Port Adelaide when we did a pick swap and traded Sam Mayes to them.

We matched a bid on McFadyen with our own 3rd round pick.

Noah Answerth, we drafted with pick we traded in on Draft night from North Melbourne for a future fourth round pick.

We currently hold a second and third round pick in this years draft which we traded in from Gold Coast in last years second pick swap trade.

Stop talking garbage.

1) without GC multiple pick you can do nothing about it. Stop that garbage is you not me. I said you use GC multiple pick and turn to your advantage and get those players.
2) you should go back to Brisbane board if you keep suggesting GCS upgrading their pick and then said nobody want to come to GCS, you are worse than troll, go around everyboard and try to sell Collingwood first Rd and GC second Rd pick asking other club to upgrade their pick.
-you not only trying it HERE IN GC board, Fremantle board, main board acting like a draft expert.
If I am GC recruitment team I would just pick the Brisbane academy players you mention in the draft board with lower pick.
