Gee it is hard this season trying to structure around Gawn and Grundy and i have tried other Ruck combos but i cannot go past the set forget option with these 2 guns.

No doubt plenty will change come the JLT etc.

140k in the kitty also.

I like your team, although lack of Max in Ruck. Why is that?
I hate to say it, you have a reliance on Dees
Could also take Hore until Lever comes back (even though u dont have Lever)
May should be a lock. Brayshaw is a no brainer for your mids
Hate it to say it aswell but ditch viney, should be better options than him. (Oliver)
Wouldn't you take Higgins or Cunnington over Tyson.

Other than that, i rate that you have Lukosius
I think Max will drop points and value with Preuss in the team taking on more of the ruck duties than Weideman/McDonald did.
Tyson I feel will rack up more points playing purely inside. Was forced to play outside half of the time for the Dees, where he was ineffective.
Will have a look at Hore in the JLT, but I believe Fritsch will be filling that role.

Williamson still restricted to running laps apparently and doing drills with Marchbank etc, wouldn't think he's worth it at his history (50 pt average) with affected pre-season and 60k extra. With 200k in the kitty if you downgrade him you can do some serious wheeling and dealing

Most likely will be out come Rd 1 as i doubt he also gets up but if he is named Rd1 he will be a serious stepping stone to a keeper.

Also the reason i am leaving money in the bank as there is some serious talent to be had down back for low prices and the rookie selection is large with a few mature aged blokes looking like playing from Rd1.

Can you see all of: Stocker, Settefield, Walsh & Gibbons playing round 1 onwards?

Walsh / Stocker LOCKS to play Rd1 IMO.

Fitness dependent for the others at this stage and i reckon Setters and Gibbons will be real close to getting a heap of early games.

Picking the "Best" players from varied teams is hard. Some teams score better than others (IN other words don't pick Saints players, unless its say Jimmy Webster)

Chances are i will Most likely start again, clear the team and try for a better team before the year is out.
Im only going by what other posters are saying, and reading in thread boards before we get to see any potential form during JLT.
Didn't know it mattered what Position you took players at?>(Devin Smith at M4)

Mids have better scoring potential than forwards (31 mids over 100 in 2018, 5 forwards). By taking up a mid spot with someone who can be a forward, you're using a high scoring position up.

Obviously you can swap him into the forwards at some stage but it's just taking up a useful spot in the meantime with very minimal $ or points advantage.

Cheers man.

Heard that Stocker has below average endurance & has been working on it

I'd say our first picked side contains
Weitering, Marchbank, Plowman, Simpson, Newman, Thomas (defenders)
McKay, Curnow, McGovern, Fasolo (forwards)
Kreuzer, Cripps, Murphy, E.Curnow, Dow, M.Kennedy (first and second tier mids)
Fisher, Petrevski-Seton, O'Brien (flankers/part time mids)

That's 19 - with still Lang, Williamson, Jones, Casboult to be considered based on team line-up.

I think only 2 max get games early on. As the season progresses I'd expect the first 2 picked and O'Brien, Dow to be rotated, potentially phase out Thomas, Newman and Fasolo may not be as good in a poor side and struggle + injuries - so there will be games for all at some stage.

I think we start with Walsh (no-brainer) and Stocker. Setterfield would have to push ahead of Stocker at this stage.

I think it's unlikely that a 20 year old with 15 games to his name and a delayed pre-season, with only 3 scores over 70, becomes a serious stepping stone.

He's got a lot of great attributes, don't get me wrong. I'm a fan. But he's not getting the Docherty role yet.

I reckon if he plays full time and is injury free he will be scoring 80+ easily with the way his game is.

He is a great kick and takes contested intercept marks, body has matured from those early scores and he is one of our most highly rated kids internally that just needs some luck body wise.

Not convinced he'll develop into much more than a vanilla plodder

Long time BigFooty follower, first RMT post for 2019. So many mid-priced options to contemplate this year, but mid-priced gems are hard to isolate.
Theres clearly lots of time until final teams announced, but heres a solid foundation IMO. Any criticism welcome.

Defence
Laird, Whitfield, ZWilliams, Newman, Roberton, Scrimshaw

Mids
Cripps, Fyfe, Dusty, Zerrett, Libba, Bennell, Constable, Bewley

Rucks
Grundy, Goldstein

Forwards
Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, Chadguard, Setterfield, Cavarra

Wat? Darcy Moore is locked with Burgess for the best Def/Fwd swing combo of all time!

Darcy is the standout Pie in pre-season & is taking the kickouts.

I fail to see where it could go wrong.

One of his rubber band hammy's just snapped at the thought of all the pressure you are putting on him.

It's hard with 4 players at almost $700K .....I'm like you, not prepared to go past Gawn & Grundy ...I also have Macrae, which means I really can't afford Lloyd, which also appears your issue as well, given you have Roberton at D3 and he really needs to be D4

Apart from that backline ....great side

He in all probability will ......but he'll still average more than the closest R3 & you won't have to waste a trade bringing him in

Doubt there has been a more important JLT series in the past when it comes to picking a SC team than this year. So many unanswered questions. At the moment I have the Gawndy ruck combo. I can see arguments for and against it. Seen a lot of posts about the fact their price will probably drop at some stage and that's the time to pounce. All well and good but it's still using a trade.

Serious question. What do people in here think a trade is worth? If you start with another ruck with a plan to get Grundy, how much do you want to see his price drop before you think it's worth using a trade on?

I'm more concerned about Gawn this year than Grundy. Grundy is a lock for mine. Absolute specimen of an athlete. With Gawn it comes down to the impact Preuss is going to have, which hopefully the JLT will give us a clearer picture of. Goldy would be the only other consideration for me in the ruck if it looks like Gawn won't keep up his scores from last year. Can't see anyone else getting close, except for Kreuzer, who is too injury prone to risk.

For anyone going in with neither of Gawn and Grundy, IMO that's two potential captaincy scores every week that you are missing out on.

First team thrown together. A lot will change! It’s a bit ‘vanilla’ at the moment, but I have a few left field picks on the watch list for JLT.

So not looking to overspend in DEF .....some notable outs Laird, Roberton ? .....I like your Approach

Having Gawn / Grundy / Danger and McCrae is always going to leave a hole somewhere and Robbo at D3 it is but i think he can really become a keeper.

I am confident though my rookie choices in the backline will be sound and if they are not i will most likely burn a few trades getting the backline going as the rest of team i am happy with and willing to risk 1 line which this season happens to be defenders!

Impossible to really have 100% satisfaction and risks are always needed.
