In amongst a list of observations about the 2km trial I said I thought Cam looked out of shape, but finished middle of the pack so not a disaster.

From that I have been called pathetic and accused of having an anti-McCarthy agenda which could not be further from the truth.

It's no wonder so many people are loathe to post training reports, and for the record I'll keep my opinions to myself too.
There are nob heads everywhere in this world. Please dont stop reports..its hard enough living in the country without having to buy the worst Australian for freo news.

There is an anti Cam / Pro Cam conflict on here. The demographic profiles of the pro Cam/anti Cam camps would be interesting to look at. You could probably predict Cam like or dislike in interesting ways.

Can we please not end up like last year with no training reports?

For those of us not in the West, it is very much appreciated.

Some of the guys have kept up with it so far

I'll try get down to training but from now to Christmas I'm going to be flat out with work.

Can't wait to hear about our new lads.

Isn’t Cam a South Freo boy. Doing well for someone so underpriviged in early life.

Let me guess. You're a Moss Street w***er?

Seeing a few things come through on Twitter. Hoping there’s some watchers down there today who can give some insights!

A big day in Cockburn for the new boys!
All of the lads strolled out early in their new gear and runners before being taken back into the rooms.
This provided the media with a great photo opportunity as, when they came back out together, shoulder to shoulder, it was a memorable sight.
The training watchers cheered and welcomed them as they began a kick to kick.
For watchers, it was a great opportunity to see their rigs and personalities close up.
Sturt is very thin and seemed quite shy. Can’t see him playing next yr but if Stephenson can at 52kgs then anyone can. Did notice he gives the ball a good thud when he kicks.
The Willy boys look ready to roll. Well built, confident and with noticeably good skills. Bewley’s long kicking looked great from the small sample he offered.
Carter is old news, we’ve seen him before.
Valente impressed me the most. Very well built, Taller than I thought and seemed very confident amongst the others. Surely gets the 29.
Watson is also very thin yet is a good height. Him and Sturt will become besties in the gym.
Overall the new boys didn’t really train. They just hung about like spare willys at a honeymoon, kicking and hand balling, posing for cameras.
Sonny still on a modified program with Tucker. Mundy and S Hill were pulled out to do extra running. S Hill does look slimmer and very fit. Cerra also doing his own thing after the warmup.
Fyfe was in and out of the warmup and then moved onto some solo running.
The big news is that after his usual stroll through the sand, barefoot, with a cocktail in hand, Jesse strapped his boots on and had a kick with one of the trainers. Was great to see.
Of the others, ‘twas good to see Ballas and Kersten out there as I didn’t see them last week. Swita is seriously quick.
Cam and Lobb really impressed me with their laser field kicking.
I left early however, Harley looked great and was involved in everything early. Has definitely dropped weight and definition. Hopefully this makes calves happy.
Look forward to hearing from others about how the match sims, fuller drills looked.

High Dixon has a way to go in conditioning.
Ross was watching very closely in the ball movement drills.
Duman was playing on Dixon

Ross yells at Duman: “Taylin! Run off him! He’s cooked, he’s cooked he can’t run with you!”

Poor Hughie [emoji28]

Interesting in some of the other drills there was a distinct focus on taking ground. One short kick was followed always by the coach yelling “take ground, you’ve gotta take ground” and the players responding with leads and a distinctly more positive movement by the guy with the ball

I dropped in for the first time this morning. Super impressed with the facilities.

Huge group out there training. Very few missing. A gent I met told me that Meek hurt his ankle last week so he might miss a chunk of the pre-season.

Players looked very sharp in the match simulation. I think we are going to see a lot of attacking next season. Interesting that they are doing match drills so early in the pre-season. I am not a regular training watcher. Is this normal?

Many thanks for this report, it’s much appreciated and gives us a good sense of what when on down there today.

Brutal.

I reckon Ross is a big fan of Duman.

Stand out Cox who played on Logue. Cox beat him in the air and general play although when Logue did get the pill he exploded out of defence. Blakely again
everywhere .Bennell finished of a full session and then ran run throughs with the group, helooks promising. Balla,s back. Meek with the ankle and Ryan the only 2 missing. Cerra ran laps and Fyfe,Mundy and Sonny with an easier work load. Brayshaw lightning with is hands inside and also covered plenty of ground. Hogan had a short kick to kick. Draftees watched and had a short kick to kick. Ross very vocal today and is certainly a lot more involved and taking players aside to explain what they need to do. Godd turn up of watchers and great to catch up with Clems knee.
