Worth noting if Melbourne make the finals, it's a double spot loss for us. Given that GC were awarded a 2020 #11 PP for fu** knows reason, that Geelong now hold.

Essentially them missing the finals is worth 2 spots.

We need to leverage Sydney.

We will never know, but geez it would be awesome insight to what was their thoughts re the pick swap last year. It wouldn’t be as simple as “yeah the GoDees are shit, they’ll be shit again” type vibes.
I‘m interested in the process and what they thought would evolve and contingencies around that

Traditionally nobody has wanted to trade with us until we had such an early pick in play.

We dealt with Melbourne feeling the future pick would open up various options, not sure how much we factored in Melbourne's 2020 prospects though.

This is my point....would luv to know the philosophy around it....surely there's a lot more to Brady than that.

only a month ago it was looking like a masterstroke trade, I have no issue with them trying different things
I am absolutely not bagging them, at all. I'd luv to know the thought process around it...hope it comes out after the trade period.
Agree it looked like a masterstroke, but they would have had other ideas in place if what is currently happening was to happen. I love the wheeling and dealing, just interested is all. Purely put it out there for discussion. Not bagging the club.

It is interesting. They may have had an eye on an established player that they might have needed two first round picks for. I don't think they though that they would be doing a rebuild.

It would have been an amazing swap if they had done it at the end of 2018.

A move like this even if it doesn't workout exactly already show the willingness to take risks, a very un-north like behaviour compared to the past.

Nonetheless, we still get 1 extra first round pick, there are plenty of good players in the 10s pick.

Article linked here has some explanation from Mark Finnigan - rated last year's draft as more even, and wanted the two picks in first round for this year to have more flexibility.

Yep remember that. There‘s def more to it and as outwecome2play mused, we prob thought we were in a different spot then that we are now. There‘s also the rumour we thought Flanders be long gone before our pick.

You out on Hollands??

I'm not sure I've ever been 'in'.

I've said here a few times that he reminds me a bit of Cam Rayner. I will concede that Hollands is more skillful than Rayner, but I'm not convinced Hollands ever makes the transition to midfield, similar to what I felt about Rayner.

I have Hollands at #11 overall in this draft. I think his potential is huge if he ever does make the transition to midfield but in watching his games last year I just wasn't convinced that he would make it as anything more than a really skillful half forward flanker.

I think he could be a 40 goal a year half forward flanker but full time mid? Not so sure

Whoa.... if he hadn’t done his ACL he would have been the biggest slam dunk no.1 pick in the last 10 years... including Rowell.

as it stands he is far more likely to go no.1 to Adelaide than he is to slip out of the top 5.

I think he will be a dominant mid for years, but his tricks and goal sense will get him games as a forward straight away..

Obviously every one has different opinions and we both might be way off... but Hollands seems like the one we have dreamt about.

Best highlights package of any of these draft prospects I have seen. Looked like he could play anywhere.
