Retire- Dunn, Wells, Reid, Goldsack

Delist- Broomhead, Crocker, Murray, Wills

Varcoe, Mayne and Greenwood get another year as depth and realistically we can't delist more than 8 players, especially now that we've traded out our first rounder. But they need to be phased out of the best 22 next year.

Madgen stays for one more year given our laughably thin KPP depth.

KPP and run and carry players the target for the draft/ trade period.

While I'm keen to see how Wells returns from injury prior to making a decision, at the moment if it was a choice between another year for Varcoe or for Wells, I'd be opting for Wells if he was keen to go round again.

Mayne is contracted for 2020 so won't be going anywhere.

Madgen still has another year to run on his Cat B status unless I'm mistaken so unless there's another prospect in the wings, I'd retain all of Madgen, Keane and Wilson on the Cat B list.

I think Broomy will get another year.

Sidebottom would tell us to fu** off and request a trade to a team like the bombers. Players have the power in the AFL

Or just say no, I'm staying at the Pies till 2021 as per my contract.

we knew he had foot problems when we drafted him - his subsequent injuries have been in different parts of his legs but the warning was there - this guy is injury prone

Judd had massive shoulder issues, as did Selwood, Stringer had a career ending broken leg....

I’ll remain consistent and stick to my confidence in the list overall. The list is solid outside some weak spots which are only having a light shone on them due to the worst injury list arguably in history.

We should probably start by targeting Petrucceli and Keith which will provide some reinforcements to the backline and some genuine pace that can be used through the middle or in tandem with Stevo up forward.

Then I’d be clearing out the entire medical and fitness team and start again there. Poach whomever you have to poach, Break the soft cap by whatever dollar amount it takes.

In terms of individual players, Crocker’s time was up last year so I’m staggered he made it this far. I’d probably be letting go of Moore and Elliott begrudgingly simply based on the fact that their bodies are simply too unreliable and we’ve proven that our club doesn’t have the resources to fix them.

The fact that Broomhead can’t get a game anymore would suggest his time is up and we’re obviously going to lose Wells, Goldsack and Dunn to retirement.

Delist: Wells, Goldsack, Murray, Dunn, Varcoe, Reid, Broomhead, Wills, Crocker, Magden, Lynch

Re-sign by on a reduced 1 year contract: Elliott, Greenwood, Sier

Re-sign on a 2 year deal: Phillips

Who we got in the wings to take Madgen's spot on the Cat B rookie list? If nobody, why not retain him given we can't actually just replace him with anyone.

Why would you get rid of Lynch? He's a developing ruck and they generally take time. This year he's actually started to look like he could make it and you want to off-load him. Makes no sense. Who'd replace him as ruck depth in 2020?

Phillips has already been extended till 2021.

Not to mention, he is not even 21 years old. Has made strides in the last 12 months. KEEP for sure.

Couldn't live with myself spending a week's wage on a meal.

Long story short, neighbor's daughter asked us to look after her 2 dogs while she had a 4 week holiday with the family. Gave us a $300 gift voucher to VDM for our trouble. My wife and I and her parents went along to make use of the voucher, opted to not go with any of the extravagant wine offers and just picked a nice bottle, cost us $1,600 for the 4 of us.

I definitely think we should be cleaning up the injury proned veterans, or anyone approaching the age of 30 that is on the fringe of selection.

I'm talking about Reid, Goldsack, Wills, Varcoe, Dunn, Wells and potentially even Greenwood.

Elliott should be on the trade table I think.

You would hang onto Darcy Moore though. Still very young and his body is still maturing.

I understand that we are shredding a lot of experience and depth, but the fact is that most of those guys haven't played barely any footy for us in the last 2 years anyway. Much better having younger talent on the list who are fit and raring to go.

The other thing is that we would clear up a fair bit of salary cap. Wells we know came on big money, but I'd dare say Varcoe is on decent coin as well considering we had to prize him out of Geelong. Greenwood wouldn't be on chicken feed either, while Reid and Goldsack wouldn't be on big coin, but still not minimum wage like a draftee or mature age recruit would be. The fact is you can recruit a mature age guy like Marty Hore was for minimum wage, and get more games and value out of him.

If we clear off the wages above, then that opens the salary cap up, and potentially gives up the option of making a play at a big name player.

Crocker would be a delist for mine.

I'd be hanging onto Daicos and Broomhead.

Wells re-negotiated the last year of his current contract down to base pay and match payments. You'll never find cheaper depth than that other than a new 1st year draftee.

It would be a nice thing to do once but it's pretty extravagant. Was it worth it?

If I was going to splurge on fine dining like that I'd want the place to have some Michelin stars, does VDM?

Explain why we should be keeping him. He has been on the list for 3 seasons and doesn't seem to be close to an AFL debut.

This is despite Cox being woefully out of form.

He's a ruckman so unlikely to get a chance until Grundy injured (perish the thought).

Best dining experience I've ever had, don't know about the stars.

I'd look to trade Sier, Elliott, Thomas and if the right offer was presented Sidebottom.

Tomlinson and Papley should be the targets and both should be gettable.

Maybe GC throws some big coin at Sidey and we can facilitate a trade for Ben King as we all know he's coming home.

Max King's trade worth would be through the roof, Sidebottom wouldn't cover it.

Long bow
Those 3 blokes have intensity power and attitude
No comparison

Given your expertise in the "long bow" I'd normally be happy to defer to you, but nah, you're wrong. Stringer's leg break was that bad they thought he may never play again or as with Nathan Brown, never be the same player, or achieve what his potential suggested. Even now, 7 years into his career, he's not the midfielder he'd projected he'd be. As for Judd and Selwood, bit hard to exercise that intensity and power is you're shoulders continue to fall apart every time you try. And I didn't even look that hard for examples, I'm sure there'd be others.

I'd actually love to hear from all those posters who at the time of Scharenberg's drafting predicted that his feet issues would cause multiple ACL injuries. Suggesting a correlation, that there's your long bow. Cite me 1 other example of a player who had same/similar feet injuries and subsequently suffered an ACL injury.

I meant Ben King, stupid twins...

Sidebottom, Elliott and 2020 1st round.

Is there much difference in potential and ability between the two? I mean they are identical. One has a knee injury and the other has some exposed form, but I don't think the price would be wildly different at this stage.

Max is at the Saints and wouldn't be moved on.

Ben is at GC and will be leaving at some stage.
